Pulled my dirt bikes and 16X8 trailer sunday. Wow...no power. My 2000 Dually pulled like nobodies business. Set the cruise on 85, and it wouldnt budge no matter what grade you had.

Anyway, the 94 would lose RPM on a simple grade...not fnnn happy. What can I do to this thing without screwin up the computer? Heads? Cam? Supercharger maybe?

i take it is a small block .
i would go for a supercharger , or depending on how worn the engine is maiby make it a 383 (if you have to take it apart and bore it you better do it well nou wouldnt you )

i would have the compression checked in that baby because even if it is a small block it doesnt sound like you were hauling that heavy of a load.

Ill check the compression tomorrow. Its a 454, and as I think about it there seems to be a flat spot in acceleration sometimes. I dont think its the transmission cause if it was slipping wouldnt the rpm rise? Anywho, it cant be that gutless so do some checks before I go into adding power...could be the injector, clogged cat...I cant stand a slow truck...

So just to be clear....what I hear is that you can upgrade heads, cam, superchargers and such without having to switch to a new computer....????

yea you should be able to add those

as i understand it the 454 in the 94 are really hard to do anything with. i hope to be wrong cause I'm of the belief that the 454 we have is just not a really strong motor and with the gearing were kind of stuck. but thats info i have been told by a few speed shops.

MAN I HOPE THATS NOT REALLY THE CASE??!!??

The compression pulled up 150 all the way around. A couple of the pluggs looked bad so I gave it new pluggs, wires, cap and rotor. It runs better but still hestitates and struggles under WOT. Something is a miss....bad cat, transmission slipping...I dunno but I aint given up.

I did find (thanks to Todd at Lowboy motorsports) a place called TURBO CITY. They sell matched injectors, throttle body spacers, injector spacers and will bore out your throttle bodies for more power.

Furhter, I have been told that they sell headers for these things...

man good luck with that.... i would injectors are good and not clogged then maybe try the cat but just doesnt sound like that to me.

Can you set the timing on those?

erock keep us updated on this i'm intersted in doing stuff to my truck but was told that it's not worth it and this is from a well known speed shop.
