it just baffles me how people shave or do some sort of bodywork and then tape a perfect square right to the edge of it and then prime it..for one that edge is hard to get rid of...and when you do feather it out...it still leaves a ghost line from the fact that the primer actually bites into the paint when you spray it on.....sorry just a pet peeve of mine lol

i think its because it "highlights" their modifications to bring the attention to them. i dont know. just a thought

who wants to spray a whole truck because of one mod? Especially when your going to take the primer off to have more body work done to other areas, or possibly completely off when you go for your real top notch paint job?

Saves money, prevents rust, quick fix.....sounds good to me on a daily.

im not sayin prime the whole vehicle..just dont tape it off right to the edge of your bodywork......you should DA out a little bit past your work and backmask it so you dont get a hard nasty primer edge..thats all...trust me it will save you a headache in the future when it comes to paint

Hate to break it to ya, but primer absorbes water, def does not prevent rust!

Trevor i'm with ya 100%, i've never taped a hardline like that, always wondered why people did tho

i did the hardline thing...what is backmasking? masking a distance from where you want to end spraying to limit the over spray?

yes that is a cardinal sin in a paint and bosy shop is taping off a hard line b/c you'll never get it all the way out. also never get bodywork or primer wet.

I have "squares" on my ranger, ant the reason I did is I think it looks stupid to spray half the door just cause you shaved your handle, that to me looks like you have to use that whole ares to smooth shit out because you cant do bodywork. Its all a matter of opionion, I guess
