Trevor, you act like you are a painter or something and know what you are talking about! Keep that stuff to yourself, especially since you dont know wtf you are talking about murph. J/J buddy...trev def. knows what he is talkin about...and like he said especially with darker colors you will notice ghost lines through the paint. I learned this really quickly after the first car I painted black after doing a lot of work. So not only does it cost you more time in prep work, but then those countless hours of hard work you put into it can go down the toilet with something as silly as a ghost line because you didn't spend an extra few minutes to back mask.

I think this post is a good example of minitruckers trying to help other minitruckers..people buitch all the time that "this sport has gone to shit"..but stop tryin to be defensive,,Trevor has just pointed out a good point, take it as a learning experience...now everyone who has read this should be alittle bit smarter and be able to do better work on thier vehicle..

i agree the patches of paint do make for more work. i learned from that truck that was posted above. i never even touched the body just because of those spots.

I never herd of backmasking so i did the hardlines. Never knew it would have a effect on future paint jobs. So I will do the backmasking from now on.

sorry bro i wasnt tryin to call out ur truck..i didnt think you did that anyway..it was just a good example...but yeah i was just tryin to get some info out there that will save people some time down the road because ive noticed it ALOT in this sport..hell i know im guilty of doing it back in the day but after i started paintin i realized what it did and we had a new bodyman start that was doing his jobs like that and we had problems with the lines showing up even after they were feathered out

it looks better that bare bondo!!! rattle can primer might absorb water but a good primer/sealer is the main part of a paint job, and it will not absorb water until it really breaks down (sun damage mainly), chances are anyone who primes a square like that, still needs to block it and probably needs a final prime anyways and the hardlines will go away it if gets blocked properly and enough. I'd rather see it primed, than in bare metal or rotting in bondo. DO WHAT YOU DO

Hey,when your paint and body man is gonna charge you to do a show quality paint job,let him worry about how to get those lines out.If I pay $5000.to $10.000 for paint, then he's gettin' paid!

its not worth THAT many squares....but if you just shaved your handles or soemthing, or your gas filler door, why are you going to spray your whole truck? lol

he is not saying to prime the whole thing!!
any good body shop will back tape!
