I have "squares" on my ranger, ant the reason I did is I think it looks stupid to spray half the door just cause you shaved your handle, that to me looks like you have to use that whole ares to smooth shit out because you cant do bodywork. Its all a matter of opionion, I guess

Tape or no tape doesn't determine how MUCH you gotta paint, jus tape off your window/trim so it doesn't get painted, no one said you gotta paint your whole door!

yeah, it only takes like 2 seconds more to back tape it, you will still have your "square", but with a soft edge, not a hard line

i dont think alot of people care because they intend on removing all the primer when they go to paint it anyways. you cant roll primer forever because its not going to stop water penetration.I mist my stuff with duplicolor auto paint but when its all going to be finally painted im going to get alot of the removable stuff like fenders and bed bead blasted to remove all filler and paint, then i can start from scratch with filler and primer.

Now that I think about it. I see this a lot. Makes me laugh thinking about them feathering that out.

people do it cause they dont know any better...and as for 90% of minitruckers..they think thats the right way..

who cares, for real? if you dont like it dont do it to your truck, its as simple as that. different people have different ways of doin things to the ride.

i just done it to my truck a while back. I would rather have a few primer squares than i would primer my whole truck becouse of a couple nicks a dings. As for the hard line problem from tape should be sanded down with the whole truck when ever you want to paint it

Basicaly its b/c like mentioned most Minitruckers don't actuall care or know any better. Its not like most actually get to paint anyway.

Backmasking is a better way of priming a truck. It makes your painter have to work 1/2 as hard to get it smooth again. Of couse I usually don't do much body work till I am ready to go all the way to paint anyway.
