dude, leave the body the way it is,
if you have to, put a clearcoat over it

Man, these cars will damn near lay body just by laying it out. They look sickly low just layed out, and they will lay on a 26" tire without even having to notch the frame out back. Drop spindles up front and it smashing the exhaust collectors in your lawn. Buy a drop spindle from classicperform.com and build your disc brake setup around it for dirt cheap using parts from a 92 Camaro. The rotor from that car will bolt up to the spindle and then just get another booster/master cylinder.

Ok, all that being said, nice project and it is your car, so do what you want, but I agree that the car doesn't deserve the punishment of being body dropped.

i bodyd my wagon in my profile. if i had a chance i would do it again. the only thing i would do different is rather then build a 1x1 floor like i did. you can buy the floor pan complete for i think like 400 bucks. all you have to do raise the floor pan maybe an inch to inch and a half max. might have to section the part that goes under the seats because when you lay it out that will be first to smash into the ground. i cut the entire floor out of mine no problem. check out www.classicindustries.com for parts. they helped me out alot. goodluck. i could have layed 22's with alittle more work. 20's no problem with no clearance issues. i also ran s10 balljoints with spindle to convert to disc. i payed 100bucks for it.

IMO Chicayne is one of the baddest hot rods EVER, that car is f'n perfect 19-22 combo and 1,200hp X 5

btw if you put STOCK S-10 coil springs in the 58-64 impalas will drop the car 4 inches

thanx guys. yeah i was plannin on running s10 balljoints and drop spindles (have the spindles layin in the shop) seems to be the cheapest way to convert to disk and get a drop spindle to boot.

small update: i can get the car to move in 3rd gear but nothing else seems to be there??? i dont t ihnk its the cltuch anymore, possibly torn up gears? i need to quit messin with the damn thing till i actually get my bed finished and paint my truck.... damn new toys!
