The deck is more than a small part of the equation in SQ. With SQ every piece in the equation plays a big part. Starting with the source of the sound ( ex: CD, MP3, Satelite Radio, ETC ) The head unit is next. One weak link in the equation can ruin the whole thing. Including your wires. The Eclipse cd2000 is more of an entry level Eclipse. If you were to step up to the cd5100 or cd7100 you would notice a substantial difference in the SQ. If SQ is what your after then my suggestion is to not slack on any of your components to the speakers. As for the original question in this post. My choices are in this order from top to bottom. Eclipse, Alpine, JVC, Clarion. Personally I wont buy anything but Eclipse unless they go out of business. In which case I will switch to Alpine. My thing about Pioneer is all the BS on the screen. I mean if I wana see Dolphins I will go to Sea World or something. The circuitry used for all that stuff could be used to add a 24-bit digital signal processor, or an EQ. But like I said thats my opinion. Looks come second after performance for me. If it sounds killer but looks like crap. I will just hide it under the seat or in the glovebox.
