it could be the pick up coil but more than likely ur fuel pump is either in the middle of goin out or a lose wire on ur alternator

well this sucks, because i'm supposed to go out of town tomorrow. I would hate to be half way where i'm going and bam it shuts off.

Yep, gotta be the pick up coil. The suburban did the exact same stuff sometimes it would crank and sometimes it wouldnt. Pickup coil is like $11 but you have to pull the distibutor.

most dist you cant change the pickup coil i would rather get a new one because theres no slack in it since the old gets hott and has alot of slack in it

normally when the fuel pump starts to go out, it won't be an instant failure. You'll notice severe power loss, and it will be hard to start when the fuel is low.

Also check the lines coming out of the tank, they rust sometimes and get pin hole air leaks...

My bet is the pick up coil too. just do a quick tune up and go from there.

i just did a tune up with plugs, wires, dist cap, and all the goods about a month ago. Now I guess I will change to pickup coil, I just gotta figure out how. I ain't good with engine stuff. guess I'll call my pops..

it's not the pickup coil. I just replaced that and took it for a drive, and just got back from the 2 mile jog home. Back to the old drawing board. I guess I gotta call some friends to come help me take the bed off.. I reckon I'll change the fuel pump.

i had a 93 blazer cpi 4.3 that would just shut off for no reason.. not a chug and die but like you turned the key off die... changed the cap, timing chain, pickup coil, coil, ignition module and distributor...

never found out what the problem was.

pull the coil wire and have someone crank it.. tr yto arc it off of a screw driver.. i always had spark in mine too, just wouldnt start.. even had fuel at the plenum.

check the fuel sending unit

ok, it's not the pump... changed that this morning, and that's not the problem.

honestly, could the alternator have anything to do with this? Every time it dies, I have to jump it off. The battery is dead every time it dies.
