Okay, I'm going to tell you exactly what I did so you know whats up.

'96 S10 4.3

I moved the battery to the ext cab, made a bracket for the ECU where the battery was-behind the headlight, and extended the harness that went from under the dash to the ECU.

For the harness-I got a second harness so i could mate the two to make it longer. While i had it all opened up, since the truck has no heater, i got rid of the heater wires that were incorporated into that harness-2 relays, blower power plug, other blower box plug, the round plug that gave the relays power, and the two wires that went from the relays to the inside plug.

For the battery, i made a 1 guage power lead that ran from the battery to the starter, then from the starter to the alternator, and hooked the other power wire(ECU power?) up to the stock power block.

Started up fine, ran good, all is well, right?

Not really.

Now the problem-
I got it off the jack stands, put it in reverse(went into gear harder than i remembered), and backed out of the driveway. As i was backing up, i heard a sound that sounded like an e brake thats stuck on...which is strange, seeing as how the truck has had the e brake removed for quite a while! After i backed out, i put it in drive(again, shifted harder than i remembered), and pressed the pedal to accellerate-nothin! It felt like the torque converter was slipping AND the e brake was on or something?! So i pulled it back into the garage(not an easy task with the truck running the way it is), jacked it up, put it in Neutral, and the wheel didn't freely spin, but it wasn't un-movable. It actually felt like the e brake was slightly applied, yet only when the wheel was at a certain position, in some spots it moves freely!

It might be something simple, but sure got me feelin like a weetodd.

I just gave you all the info incase the tranny is wired into that harness at all or whatever...It was only on stands for 4 days.

Thanks if anyone can help!

It sounds like you have built up rust on your rotors while it was not running. Every truck or car does it IF it sits for any period of time. Easily comes off the first time you apply the brakes at speed. Do you live where it is always wet or humid? I don't know what to tell you on the hard shifting and not moving in gear part. When you press the gas, does the motor rev and truck doesn't move? Maybe check your tranny fluid level?

you fucked somethin up
or maybe it sat too long and shit got stuck together

spray the whole bitch down with wd40 and take a drive and brake alot and try turning and stop and go a bunch of times

DEAR GOD! do not spray your brakes down with WD40!

on another note, give us some more info as to what it was doing when you tried to pull it in and and out. like was the truck surging while trying to give it gas or was it just revving up?

Drums or Discs? If it's drums and you put new pads, it's probably just not adjusted, and could be the e-brake cable is tight even not pulled.

if it's discs, pull the calipers and check the pads. They could be stuck. And like said before, it could be your rotors are rusted on.....but I doubt that.

Try reflashing your computer?

Whoops. jumped the gun didnt read it all. Yeah I would inspect the brake system sounds like something is making it stick.

double check the wires to make sure there all connected, you ecu could be sending somthing to your abs (if you have it!) which could make all your brakes be applied. And try to jack up your truck and all jack stands and start your truck and run it in the air (note do not get under it while its running on stands).. and good luck and what ever you do, do not put wd-40 on your brakes.

Torque converter lockout solenoid isn't engaging.

Over revving, delayed engagement, all signs that the torque converter isn't locking up and is freewheeling.

Check the wires going into the tranny from the ECM.

what he said. my buddy body dropped his s10 last year and it did the same thing. He replaced the torque converter and it ran fine until the motor locked up lol. time for a smallblock. Check all your wires in this area.
