Torque converter lockout solenoid isn't engaging.

Over revving, delayed engagement, all signs that the torque converter isn't locking up and is freewheeling.

Check the wires going into the tranny from the ECM.

Thank you SO much, i'll try that as soon as i get out there, definitely sounds like the problem.

And thanks to everyone else who chimed in. Unfortunetely the truck only sat for 4 days-not enough time to build rust...No ABS... Stock drums...Oh and don't worry, i would never even start to consider spraying WD-40 on my brakes!

Jey, there's 5 plugs going into the ECM. Could the one i lengthened-the one that runs thru the firewall and plugs in under the dash-go to the transmission??

Your saying theres a harness that goes right from the tranny to the ECM, right?

Well i checked and all plugs appear to be plugged in tight...:/

It backs up fine, but just revs in drive and moves VERY slowly...

Brakes are touchy and goes into gear really hard.

It's super frustrating because i don't think i did anything that should be affecting any of this and it ran and drove great just 5 days ago!

Nothing makes sense at all

Anyone??

tyler did you use butt connectors when you mated the two harness ? if you did you need to go back a sodder all the connections. some wires use milla amps to proform there dutys, with butt connectors you will change the millas amps and mess with pcm's programming.

You know, i was wondering about that.

Yeah i just used regular union crimp style connectors.

Another thing-when i mated the two, i was dumb and just cut the plug off instead of going wire-by-wire. And, of course, out of 20 wires, there were two sets of double-colored wires...two "green with white stripe" and two "purple" wires. If either one got crossed it would mess something up, right? Even though i connected purple to purple, they could, and probably do, go to different circuits?

...i had a feeling it was going to be a mess, this is so much fun...

tyler you may need to go back and double check the mated harnesses. make sure to sodder the connections and heat shinks the connections. that sounds like the whole problem. do you have wiring diagrams of your truck ? if not let me know i can email them tommorrow from work off my all data page.

Oh my gosh Donnie. A wiring diagram would be AMAZING.

I got a brotha that does competition car audio/video installs so i know i could trust him to do a perfect job soldering them all up-but to have that diagram to know that everything is exactly right would be reassuring!

Thanks again, i'm sure it has to be the problem. Literally everything is just too fucked!

haha

Thanks again man

well, no expert here BUT my buddy was having the same problem, except for his was on his honda. turns out that one of the cables wasnt hooked to the transmission like it should of been, i believe one coming from the battery could of been his computer. his also shifted hard but wouldnt go anywhere. check any wires that could be coming from the tranny.

tyler i'll email them tommorrow from work around 9am my time, i'm in fl ok

Thank you very much Donnie.

Edgar-I didn't touch anything around the tranny at all, so I'm hoping that it's the improper connections in my wiring harness(which could, indirectly, go to the tranny). Sounds like the same problem for sure though.

...the torque converter lockup solenoid isn't fully engaging(diagnosis thanks to Jey), due to the mated harnesses not being soldered together like they need to be.

I have the same symptoms but they said it was the over drive lock out valve. I wounder if its not.

Tyler my truck did the same thing my brakes were rusted i put it 1st then reverse and rocket it till it got better then took it for ride hitting the bakes every now n then to clear out the rust.
