Actually in your second description of the problem it sounds alot like your front pump took a shit. Same thing happened to me, I had reverse but no foward movement.

Torque converter lockout solenoid isn't engaging.

Over revving, delayed engagement, all signs that the torque converter isn't locking up and is freewheeling.

Check the wires going into the tranny from the ECM.

I have the same symptoms but they said it was the over drive lock out valve. I wounder if its not.

Tyler my truck did the same thing my brakes were rusted i put it 1st then reverse and rocket it till it got better then took it for ride hitting the bakes every now n then to clear out the rust.

Yeah but it only sat for 4 days, in a garage with no rain!

So...probably not...

I'll definitely check that if soldering the harness together does not fix the problem, thank you

having no front pump and a torque converter not engaging will the the same symptoms. You won't be building enough pressure in the front plate to lock out the torque converter. If all the pressure is behind the lock out valve and it's not engaging, then you won't lock up. same as if the pump is not working and the valve is you won't have enough pressure to lock out the converter.

i thought the lock up was only for speeds above 45mph or so...?? isn't it only to lock for a 1:1 ratio at highway speeds for better fuel econ? maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by lock up though...

you aloso have to be carefull with how long of a wire run it is you can loose amps. through wire loss the shorter the run the better i doubt that will be a problem but not soldering will be. i move mine in my full size it had a 4.3 in it as well it sucked to solder all of those wires but i thing that will fix your prob. you prob just have a bad connection somewhere

if it's stuck in the lock up position.

althought that would be a likely stall situation too.

I was told S10's don't have any fiber wiring-therefore the crimp connectors would work fine...is this false information?

Also i found a wiring diagram, but it doesn't specify and plugs so it's not clearing much up for me...although i was impressed with autozones website-after all their stores being 100% useless

But like i said-it indicates no plugs so i'm still lost

Oh yeah and the compressor decided to take a shit in the middle of all this! So now i can't even test anything cuz the fuckers PLANTED!

haha

Oh well, just ordered parts to rebuild it. They should be here wed or thurs

dude my s 10 did the same thang bro it was the shift solanoid there is a 1 an overdrive and a 2 an 3 if the 1 an overdrive is gone bad then the truck tries to take off in 2 makes it feel very weak like it has no power also if you drive it and it shift from 2 to 3 it will not shift in to od and you can not down shift it in to first
