and unless you have some big chunks of dirt i wouldnt bother wet sanding the base

You prolly put to much base to soon in that spot causing it to go darker. As for the rest of the truck just go over it with a tack rag.

so what would be the best way to even out the silver?
waynehammer   +1y
I USE SILVER TO EVEN IT OUT I MIST IT AFTERWARDS (JUST SPRAY FROM FAR) DONT KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT BUT I WAS GETTING SPOTS AND THATS WHAT SOMEONE TOLD ME TO DO AND THEN I JUST COATED IT WITH CLEAR A FEW TIMES AND IT LOOKED GREAT.

it might be easier for you to just clear the truck and if you have to repaint just the top. its kinda hard to say what is causing your problem without seeing it in person and actually seeing what you could be doing wrong. silver is a hard color to spray without making it all blotchy anyways.

well i do have some dirt in the paint so i think tomorrow i will wet sand it and base and clear it, hopefuly another coat of base will even it out, what grit should i wet sand the base with at will it be ok to sand it or would i need to wait longer.

heres what you do, now that it has dried, take some 1200 wet sand the area wipe it off, tack it, then respray the roof in an even pattern, with the same amount of material from end to end you mighta put the gun to close to the roof when spraying it, and it flooded the material on it...... then if it looks good, tac the whole truck, and clear it

after laying the base coat whats the longest you can wait and still be able to spray the clear coat without having to sand or reaplying the base.

i have been painting for a while and i have painted at a freightliner factory, they made us ground all metalic colors(static build-up),what i started doing at my shop(especially silver and gold)was to disconnect the neg cable on the batt.
then reduce the paint a little thin and just fog it over the problem spot very dry, what you have going on is splotching
a big problem with silver,if that doesnt work do like he said and just clear it and repaint the roof
