Chunky, All you have done is a 1 1/2" section and you say you lay on 24's? can you elaborate because I don't see how it will.... Thanks.

Yes it will affect your motor mounts because the bolt in on top of the fram and the crossmember so you either need to make new ones or put in a shim to componsate the section out of the x-member.

no i dont have any pics sorry. and no it didnt effect the motor mounts simply because the top of the crossmember hasnt changed. the motor mount holes are on the top of the crossmember. the only reason that i needed to section it was because i layed on it before the rails due to the stock floor bd. the upper mounts are actually rear upper mounts cut apart and flipped over. i use slam re8s front and rear and she gets mad lift.

I know the motor mounts are bolted on the top of the frame rail and to the top section of the member, but if you're sectioning the whole member the motor mounts will not be affected, essentially the top of the member will not change location, the bottom of the member along with all the control arm mounts will move up however much you section the member.

thats correct. which like someone else said it will make your tie rods hit the frame when you lay.

i see people do this time and time again, but i didn't have to do any of this on my k-5,it lays frame and crossmember with 23's and set up for 24's

Dave yes on the Poterbuilt crossmember you have to change to a rack and pinion system.
