Yeah, I've done lots of reading on the 67-72 forums on both sectioned cross members and the Porterbuilt, but I could never find complete answers to all the questions. I e-mailed Nathan at Porterbuilt and he cleared up everything I needed to know about the Porterbuilt. It's a fair chunk of change but really the smartest way to go.

david-i dont have any close-ups(can get some this weekend)i used 3 inch drop spindles, and stepped the upper and lower control arms, then done a 3-1/4 inch bodydrop by modifying the bodymounts, and still kept the stock floor minus the hump the seats sit on.i just have to change out the ball joints to clear the wheels other than that i didnt do anything to the crossmember

I've done both sectioned crossmembers and a PB dropmember and a dropmember with z, that one isn't finished yet. I find the dropmember to be a quality product and it works better than the section I won't do them any other way now. My blazer is getting a dropmember now and losing the section crossmember.

ive been reading alot of these forms too and the things i dislike about the porterbuilts dropmember is it narrows the track wideth of the truck by 4in's and you have to use a rack

more than likely i'll z the frame

Sorry, but you're mistaken, the Porterbuilt Dropmember will only narrow track width by 1" either side, that straight from Nathan himself. The rack is the best way to go if you want it safe and to perform well, with a sectioned cross member or z'ing you create a bumpstear issue, with the rack it's all corrected. The Dropmember with the rack has been designed very well, it's really a no brainer if you have the cash.

I agree with david, but im wondering if i just flip the tie rod ends at the spindle if it will clear up the bumpsteer issue???

then why did he post it on another forum twice

This truck will be running shockwaves, and the mounts are not finished yet. It is narrowed up a bit... four inches over all.

As for the dropmember being narrowed, it's not quite four inches
