body drop-top build...

so ive been seeing all the under construction threads on the site, and since i've finally started putting in work on my s10, i figured i'd start my own to show the progress of the truck...

here's what the truck looked like when i bought it about a year ago..it's an 03, bagged an traditionally bd'd, only has 18k miles, and is a pretty decent truck...




here's after a building a 10ft beer bong and slammin a few bud lights with it and deciding it would be cool to cut the roof off with a sawzall... that was fun...



and it sat like this for almost 7months... lost motivation to clean it up or even look at it until recently...

here's how the cuts looked before i started capping everything off...





here's the start of the fillers for the roof/windhield..

i squared off the rear of the cab using some thick ass 1x1 square stuff...i'll be re-inforcing a lot more of the cab once more fillers are in, to keep the cab square and somewhat sturdy...

here's the passenger ex. cab area with the fillers in...

and finally the rear deck we formed... still unsure if im going to stick with this sort of shape or build some sort of a squared off deck piece... im kinda diggin the rounded look though... what do you guys think of the shape?



If you guys have any suggestions/hints/critisism let me know... im always down for new ideas and help...

i'll be working on it more throughout the week, and definately will put in 6-8hrs of work next sunday while the shop is closed..

i'm shooting to have the truck done by havasu havoc in april and hopefully in a clean fresh paint job..

it's such a re-warding feeling to finally see some progress and see things starting to take shape...

as soon as i get more work done, i'll be posting up pictures...

Im not one to chop the roof off of anything either but I like it. Did you lay the winshield back any?

i didnt lay the windshield back at all... i was considering it but decided not to... thanks for the comments so far!

i run/own NOTORIOUS MOTORING here in las vegas... me and my dad just opened the shop up in august of last year..

looks good so far, curious as to how you are going to do the interior as now its exposed to the elements and such. wet ass on a soaked seat is never fun.

only thing i would have liked to have seen you do was use the top rails off a bed to finish the cab. Other than that i like it, keep going with that back wall curve and see how it turns out.
