I'm trying to figure out where yall are finding these friends that will pay for anything....I got friends that want to shave door handles, but not buy bondo and sandpaper. They say, "well you have some right".....Fucking garbage. Then when it comes time to your truck....."Im Busy". Crazy....Keep your head up Max. When your on top there's always someone trying to bring you down....that's the cost of being fucking awesome. Could be worse you could have the paparazzi on your ass......Go Britney!!! LOL

aside from it sucking ass, the best thing i can say here is lesson learned, no more 20 dollar reduced rates, and real friends wouldn't ask for it on the cheap. If anything real friends would want to pay full price cause they should appreciate ya more than anyone. Obviously that's not how things pan out, but that's usually my philosophy on things.

money$$.......the root of all evil

It is actually, according to the Bible, the "love" of money that is the root of all evil. Money is actually a good thing that drastically improves our everyday lives.

Dont think of it as a loss, it was a cheap way to see someones true colors, and if it did'nt happen on this deal, it WOULD have on a bigger more expensive one. This is why I don't work on other peoples trucks, just mine.

im a mechanic and do a lot of side work for around $40 an hour. (shop rate is $80-$110)
i know exactly how you feel. i have a hard time charging my friends $40 an hour for my work so i usually drop it to $0-$20 an hour for friends but most of the time it isnt worth getting out of bed for that price because you get people complaining and i payed good money (UTI, although it was a scam) for my knowledge and tools.
your knowledge and skills are worth every penny that you charge and you should not lower your price for anyone.

yeah money screws everything up. I was telling someone the other day I wish I didnt have such a good memory, because I would be more inclined to let shit go.

but some people are just prone to problems like this, it sure sounds like you knew it from the start, so you cant really blame him for acting exactly like you expected he would.

I have learned that giving people a deal is only beneficial when they already expect full fare, and that doing extra (both sides, either paying more money for less work, or doing more work for less money) is only beneficial when the person getting the better end is prone to appreciate it.

cest la vie.

Again, thanks for all of your support.

It's always tough loosing a friend, as good or bad as they might have been, it still weighs on your soul.

You should have told him 1984 called and wanted his Baja Bug back.

Sorry to hear that Max. He obviously wasn't as good of a friend if he thought YOU were screwing him. Anyone who actually is friends with you could definitely contest on how good of a friend you are.
