He just "broke up" with me! He called me up and wanted to bring back the Harbor Freight primer gun I loaned him 3 years ago and pick up his taillights...

I think he still has my Punisher War Journal #6, my copy of Fletch and the remote to my TV!

fuck him, max, we all know you're the shit. Also, it's awesome to see you quoting Mallrats (i'm a huge Kevin Smith fan)! I'm sorta in the same boat, a friend helped me do all the bodywork on my s10, but i helped him build his truck, a shop, and a house before he helped me, also i showed up at his place all the time to help with whatever vehicle he was doing at the time, when we were working on mine you can bet your ass that i did all the bitch work (grinding down welds, wet sanding, etc, basically all the stuff that does'nt require skill since i have none, lol) and it took a year and a half but he did'nt complain nor did i. I gave him money whenever i could, and bought all his supplies (and paid off his parts store bill without him knowing, he dug that), and also gave him a 350 for the rat rod he's building his wife. I knew he was doing a lot of shit for almost nothing, so i never rushed him and always paid for his food and stuff when i could. i hate being a mooch, so i try to offset my nonwelding skills like that. Now my burban's 9 hours away getting worked on, so i can't pop in and help out, also the dude is super busy and i know i can only send him so much money so i told him it's ok to take a while, i'm not bugging the shit out of him (i hope not anyway), because i know he's cutting me a deal. That's how i roll.

I keep seeing the same thing in all of these posts... Don't do business with friends.

The problem is that probably half of my customers are friends or good acquaintances. And if they aren

Look on the bright side Max. I've almost got all my finances in order. That means the Mazda AND the BSA frame will be paying you a visit.

Thats why I ended up closing my car audio business, I was too nice of a guy to charge my friends a fair price, and loosing my shirt on materials and shop supplies because of it. I will still help friends on the side now, but they supply everything, especially the beer

I had a similair issue occur. a "friend" who I had helped many times in life and even introduced him to his wife, wanted some work done on his accord and didn't have a garage, skill, will or time. I told him I would do it, layed it all out as far as what amount of money he had and what I would do for that amount. I even detailed the car spending about four hours on it as it was trashed. I removed old tint, buffed it, undercoated it, detailed the motor and everything for free as that was not part of the deal. When I dropped the car back off to him he was more than happy and shocked at how clean it was, he was not expecting the detail... come to find out later he told another mutual friend that I screwed him and took his money.....we havent talked since and to tell you the truth its no skin off my back. If anything he was one of those people that hold you back...so I say Fuck em Max..your work is top notch and no one can say differently.
