went thru my pics an this is what i believe mike went off of a drawing he had done. joey has this same tattoo on his arm that he's had for awhile before getting the paint job.

terry you are right, how many 2tones and flames are out there? and there's also been rides with different themes on each side (driver and passenger. joey's neon also has realistic flames, so does that mean that mike stole all those ideas too? thats like saying someone stole another paintjob bcuz they have a certain solid color.

jay well its obvious joey say the rendering, stole the idea for his tat then stole his tat for the neon lol...if i drew up a rendering and someone painted a SIMILAR design who cares? Now if they did the same color and exact grafx and same wheels basically a clone of what i thought up then maybe i'd be a little upset but these cars aren't the same.

I know dougie, and if has pissed him off he would have probably been on here by now. Renderings to people are inspirations of ideas. Whether for there own personal use or for someone else. Hell my ford was painted the way i wanted it to be. i got the idea from the BAD flyer with the nissan titan on it. it so happens I came across the gunslinger wheels already buit and then saw the flyer and called dan at BAD and told him what I was doin. I just mainly flipped the two colors.

Before everybody gets their panties all bunched up, you should realize how difficult it is to be origional. I first saw those "stretched flesh" graphics arround 2000 on Lance Martz's Dakota that was painted by Charles Armstrong. A few years later, Clyde from Silverstar did a Toyota with some of the same graphic elements. It is unfortunate that both of those cars are Neons but I dont see anything origional in either.

lots of things look the same but there are things that are vary different as well.
ie: rear quater panel behind wheel wells are different. the door on the blue one has more blue graphics in it...same ideas or scheme but different...

isn't that what we are about you see something you like and you change to make it your own idea or personality... isn't that why some many people buy finished rides because they like what the builder did to it.

If it were me i would take it as a complement. like a rapper sampling others music in his own tracks .....JUST MY OPINION

is the pic he's trying to post.

No need to rail on Dougy for making a rendering and some people upset with paint that is similar. Air Syndicate, Mazza Paints, Pete Finlan's Hot Dog Designs have all done the stretched paint look in the 90's. The original graphic design for my truck in 96 had stretched paint with graphics incorporated. LoSnow had that style of graphic in 1994. JnS did similar on Vince's Toyota in 99/00

Finnegans toyota had that style of one side of burnt taco in 2001 when it debuted again at BTN 01.

The painted neon has biomech style under the main color. That isn't in the rendering. Picking on the wheels is kind of low. Thats like when you are losing an argument and you tell someone well your nose is ugly.

I laugh when people start getting all sensitive a renderings and paint jobs and all that. I have my right arm sleeved in the same flesh stretching style as the rendering, been done for about 3 years...did I steal it? If I drew something and then seen a truck or car at a show that looked similar to it I would take it as a compliment. It is all about being bigger that Jonny DramA.

I had got word that this thread was being posted up here. And just to cover myself and to let everyone know, i'm actually flattered. I did this rendering many years ago when i got my neon and when i worked for KEG, it was an idea that i had sprawled up and i wanted to execute it, and the first thing i found was a pic of my neon, so i did it. I had no intentions of ever actually painting my car like this. like others have said, torn flesh has been around for a while and that's not new news to me, i just wanted to give MY take on the design and see what i could come up with. Now as far as people go to say "i know the owner and he's never seen the rendering...", dont lie. you can not tell me that dude was not snoopin around on SSM neon profiles one day and came across mine and got inspiration. I'm flattered, because like i said it was never going to get done for myself. But the fact that they are both neons and the was all the flesh was contained between the window frames and rockers, they are the same in many many ways, he just added some more flesh and added a slight twist to it, good for him. as my professor once said "ideas are never stolen, they are merely borrowed" and the key word there being IDEAS, not the entire design, so more power to him to getting ideas and inspiration from my rendering, just dont copy it to the T, that's all i ask...

also note, that painter does do some damn good work. i checked out his website, and i fuckin LOVE his van

Well sorry to throw the wrench in the game here, but here is a civic that a buddy of mine painted, that i believe was at either at sema in 03 or 04. and was in the dupont hot hues calender in 05. if ya ask me, i would say this paint job was done long before that rendering.
