Hey everyone, I am having a hell of a time trying to get a leak free connection on the air setup I am trying to finish up on my car. I tried the quick connect fittings at first but they either leaked or just blew off once the tank built up some pressure. does anybody have a suggestion? is there some kind of trick to install a compression fitting so it won't leak? Oh and the rings seem to want to turn and angle when I tighten them down. can I prevent that from happening? I just want to get my car back on the road so I can get some more stuff done on my other projects. any help is appreciated.

Do the compression fittings have the extra "barb" on the line side? I've seen 2 different types. the Barbed compression fittings are better in my opinion, as they hold the line straight while you put the ferrule and cap nut on. I used to run push lock style fittings and I switched to compression, I liked the push locks, but if the tube isnt cut perfectly straight they will leak also. Even with the comp. fittings you want the tube to be cut as straight as possible.

what brand of fittings are you trying to use? makes a big difference, also just have to make sure the ends are super straight cuts and clean.

Make sure you put the sleeve on the inside.

i used compressions fine with no leaks for a long time. make sure to cut the lines straight and tighten them just enough but not too much.

i used the nickel plated push fittings, and they work great. reusable and easy to install...

maybe you have tightened them to much

that may be what I have done. oops. I tightened the hell outta them. guess I have to go back and redo those fittings. don't know about the brand, want to say smc but they aren't marked. no barb either. just the rings that resemble a wedding ring. I had smc push fittings but they leaked like hell. I decided on compression mainly for the back because the ank ports are all on the end of my tank and my pass rear is pretty much immediately right by the ports so there are some bends in the line but not to extreme. haven't noticed any leaks up front yet but then again I haven't gotten the back leak free yet. I will prevail one way or the other with the help from you guys. thanks. any more suggestions or help is appreciated.

if the fittings have the barb inside the fitting then they are DOT approved.. ive put them on my truck and trucks/cars that ive done for people have always worked great.. and for those push-to-connects.. make sure the line is cut straight and push it in til you hear a click... ive found the the green parker fittings and the black SMC fittings with the barb in the center are the best push-to-connects.. good luck

can I switch my compression rings to the barbed type without having to change the whole fitting? Where can I get these barbed fittings? I got all of my stuff around here at a local hardware/clothing/gun store.
