leaks are something you are occasionally gunna have. no such thing as a everlasting leak free air setup. fittings to me are personal preference. i like PTC cuz they are "dummy friendly." cut your line straight, push the air line into the fitting till it bottoms out, then pull back. cant beat that. but your gunna have leaks sometimes with either style fittings. get over it. just take the time to do a nice setup to begin with to minimize your leaks.

no inserts YET. will get some today. Oh and I know I won't be able to get away without leaks occasionally but this was leaking FAST. I will get the inserts AND wrap the rings in teflon to see if that solves my prob. Hopefully I can get it leak free by unleashed or the latest slammin n jammin. starting on bodywork after I get the air straight. Also going to raise my strut towers a bit and see about sectioning my front spindles so I can lay the damn thing out. That inch and 15/16ths is irritating. Need to do something about the steelies on it too. thinking 16" assassyns. what do you all think? 96 civic sedan is what it is. found lots of tuner 17's around here cheap but I don't want a tuner style car. This will be shaved, painted, chrome, and filled with stereo. no shelf on my trunk or humongous body kit either. MABYE a lip kit but thats it. Already got color figured out and the rear planned too. mabye it will turn out good.

Dont use teflon on compressions. There is no need for it.

A few years ago when we did use compression fittings we still never had a leak. We've never let a leaker leave the shop. its not rocket science.

teflon won't do anything in a compression fitting if anything it would make it worse. get the inserts and you'll be fine. perhaps try buying new ferruls I know it's good practice to not re-use them but I've re uesed em a few times on mine. still have a leak freak system. wouldn't hurt bro.

Hey guys I am running hydraulic line and flared jic fittings for my air setup with no leaks and they could be removed and installed as many times as you want. Just a thought.

if you are using the brass ferrules (the wedding ring) with plastic air brake line, that is your problem. They sell a nylon ferrule for use with plastic line, get it at the hardware store.

I've had good luck with every fitting I have tried so far. Compressions from hardware stores, NAPA, or the Peterbuilt dealer. I have also had good luck with the PTC from Suicide Doors, and I just ordered enough of the Nickel ones from Gravity Werx to plumb up the next project I have, so I'll see how well I like those.

Good to know the LRD fittings suck. I was looking at the kits they have, but they didn't list much info.

I am using the plastic air brake line and yes the brass ferrules. can I use the nylon ferrules in my brass fittings? Would I still need the inserts? Won't wrap the compressions in teflon now. thanks.

i found a big rig supply store right by my house and they have a whole 12 foot section of shelf 5 feet tall full of brass DOT compression fittings from 1/8 up to 1-1/4 with seperate compression caps, inserts and ferrules, its really kick ass cause they will sell just a cap instead of a whole new fitting and they are really helpful, they also had dot airline for prices comparable to mail order. Then right down the road is an industrial hose supply store that can make stainless hoses hydraulic hoses and they have tons of nice alkon PTC fittings. Just check around your town for a truck supply or hose supply store.ive had nothing but good luck with compression but i do keep a few ptc unions in my truck just incase
