Well I totally see your point & I agree with you 100%. I look at like this when it comes to safety. Ive been in a few acidents/wrecks lol...a 85 Nissan truck, 88 Toyota truck & the worse one was in a 02 Celica GTS. Both of the trucks were lowered, notched, cut up & I got hurt more in the Celica!! Hell I didnt even get a scratch in the other 2 wrecks. So I look at like this...I believe its all up to the man upstairs & if its your time then no matter what your in nothing is going to change the outcome. Oh & people who cut stuff up like that above & drive it need their asses kicked!!

^^the best thing about that pic is the brand new nitto tire. I have often thought about how flimsy the front sheetmetal is on my s10 now, there's no inner structure at all.

I dont have much information to add, but in the last Aussie issue of Mini Truckin there was the orange truck which got inspected by an engineer. If an engineer signed off on that guys truck than is should be pretty safe then right? Doesn't Aaron Iha have a engineering degree? Great topic...looking forward to hearing more.

all this is true, but how many shows u go to and see people getting drunk out of their mind... and how many times u go to a bar and see what goes down.... thats what u gotta worry about is some drunk dumb arse crashing into you... i lost someone in my life to a drunk... i swear if i lose another close person cause of someone drunk driving, im gonna lose it all and shot him/her in the face( sorry for the rant)
all in all, we gotta show some love at the shows, talk to the person about his ride, go or bad, just dont point and take pics.....we are all in it together no matter how u look at it, i thought minitrucking was a big family... but its like high school the way i see it sometimes..... later

i agree with ya man ...
but i would rather be in a ride thats built like a tank , compare to a disposable crushing ride... like being in a wreck in a 73 impala compare to getting in a wreck in a 2008 impala... i feel i would live better in the older ride.. lol.. i know your talking about trucks and all ... but i feel they make them crush on purpose due to the less metal and making it light weight to save on gas and millage.
but then again, whats the chances of living in a head on collision in a mini if its stock or not.. ? lol

The older vehicles weren't near as safe just because the metal is thicker. I believe it was the 73-87 chevy hoods would shear off at the hinges and would then become a knife right through the windshield. Not to mention the older stuff had no airbags. They had problems with old frames that wouldn't bend at all and would basically become a spear and just go through alot of stuff instead of bending and slowing down. I think thats why the did away with alot of the actual X bracing was because it was in fact to strong.

from my experience from going to 2 years of body repair school and working in a body shop for 2 years after that and seeing what it takes to take a f'ed up factory car back to factory the crumple zones in factory sheetmetal are there mostly to protect you. they are intented to absorb the collision of the impact into the body rather than pass it on into the passenger compartment and transfer the energy of the impact thru out the car. thats why in hard front end impacts you will find that the back end of cars get crumpled because of the way it is designed to transfer the force equally throughout the car.

If you have ever been under an F350. You should fear for your life if you see one of those trucks coming at you. Cause your gonna DIE. I would like to think there is always a bigger, stronger vehicle on the road. So IMO your screwed either way. Now trucks with all the supports hacked out and no inner stuctures...thats a different story. I notice all of the really nice full show trucks dont even have seat belts. I dont get it

the last time i shared my views on a hacked up ride on the road with my friends and family.. well lets just say it wasnt a very popular opinion at the time.. but i agree
