wow, this is unbeleiveable. I remember reading the feature when it came out and was touched by the story behind building it. but now to hear the story from after the feature, kinda sheds some light on what our scene has turned into

People always wonder why cover truck dissapear....I think the answer is found in this thread. The truck caught on fire on the way to the shoot....yet was still shot. That's crazy to me.....Just like seeing cover trucks at shows that have been out for 9 month's, yet their still using shrader valves to air it up to roll it on and off the trailer. I thought this scene was about building trucks not paper weights. When one ends up in the junkyard everyone blames the young kid that bought the truck....I think some of the blame needs to be pointed at the builders who paint and polish a piece of shit just to push it to a photo shoot. Then throw it together and sell it to some kid right out of high school, just so he can blow a bag while doing 80 on the freeway. I see and hear of to many of these "Cover trucks" falling apart when driven. I don't see the point in that....nor do I see the point in a cover truck/best of show truck not even driveable. Just my .02.....
exactly my thoughts and what I have been saying for awhile now. people laughed at me when I tried selling my daily driven truck with a solid suspension setup, and the interior done and most of the bodywork done for $4500. yet there is a guy in town who recently acquired another very recent cover truck (I won't mention it specifically to keep from getting hit with the flame brigade of the builder/friends ect) to find out the truck doesnt even start unless its jumped off, the bags leak like crazy, the tv's and gauges arent even hooked up, they are just there for looks, the door popper work when they want, and various other things you wouldnt expect to be wrong with a truck that looks as nice as it does. worst part is, the owner was asking $10,000 for it! upon finding all the problems the new owner is now selling the truck because of the mess it really is. just goes to show, the scene isnt about the trucks anymore, its all about who you know and what clubname is on your window
