You cannot cut and buff the single stage itself, you can although cut and buff if you spray a clear over top of it, you will be cutting and buffing the clear not the paint.

did you use dx330 or any other wax & grease remover? if not, then you should...if you did, did you wipe it off with clean, new paper towels (i prefer shop towels)? if you just spray or wipe the wax & grease remover on, & let it dry without wiping it off it will cause fisheyes instead of eliminating them. if your air isnt clean you can also use 3 or 4 of those orange filter units at the end of your gun.

Yes it is possible but I would never do it because majority of the time it looks like shit and simply would never use Single Stage unless you have an awesome booth that is quite clean, but thats just me . Fish Eyes you can tell when there is a Circle like ring that exposes an opening an opening in the undercoated color/primer . Now solvent pop is usually from kicking the paint off way to fast , among other things . It looks like a crater with a pin hole in center and does not show the exposed layer underneath . The most important answer was somewhat ignored it was given by KEEF . How is your setup . From tank to Water Trap/Filters to the Filter on the gun . If your using your compressor without filters/water traps your in for a big mess which could be what caused your problem .

U can cut and buff single stage and it looks good when done correctly most solid colors on cars is single stage these days. I like to single stage urethane all of our really high end jobs then block it and paint as normal. It is a good way to get the paint even mopre flawless by having a shiny look at your work plus it gives u a very slick surface to spray the actual color and clear on(not really about this post LOL)

Fieval id say check your filtration system for ur air supply like i previously stated and be sure the car is wiped down and also dried off before wipe down dries with a clean wipe down towel.

From the sounds of his post , he is a do-it-yourself painter . I truly believe Single Stage without the proper equipment and booth are wasteful to use if you want show quality paint . Single Stage is great , but without the proper equipment you can cause a mess quite fast and have even more problems that cannot be easily fixed like a Basecoat clearcoat can at home or in a makeshift booth .

hey keef i paint at a dealership and i have never seen a new car with single stage they quit doing that in the 90's some time

and you can cut and buff single stage just not a metallic single stage and being you dont seem to know a hole lot about painting id say its in your compresser and air lines is where you are getting your fish eyes and if you are gonna sand and clear single stage why not just basecoat clear coat it in my opinion its a lot better and wont fade nearly as bad in the next 5-10 years

No, if you sand and buff single stage you will end up with a dull sanded spot in your paint.

How sure are you about that? My truck is single stage with no clear coat. Sanded and buffed. Sanding and buffing won't leave a hazy or dull surface unless your burning the paint with the buffer, or using too high of a grit of sandpaper. The whole purpose of wetsanding and buffing is to make the surface smooth, uniform, and glossy. I don't care if it's flat black rattle can. If you sand and buff it enough, it's going start to shine. If you are getting dull spots then it's something you are doing wrong.
