do lawnmowers and the like not use this in their "turn on a dime" steering? Well, i mean the same concept, but part of the drivetrain section. One wheel turn in reverse, while one turns forward, or is it a differential like cars have going thru turns where the inside wheel slows or stops, to turn sharp? surely theres some sort of "tube bearing" that can switch up the direction for you.

Most of these use a hydostat drive. Nothing like a car.

You can get a Mustang II rack in many different widths and the ends will have very long threads to make it the correct length.

However, you MUST and I mean MUST have the knuckles (where the ends swivel) on the rack fall in a line drawn from the upper control arm bushings to the lower control arm bushings or you will have SERIOUS toe change when going up or down. Plus your steering will only be good at a certain height. up or down from that will be a bitch to steer and toe will be crazy off...

im still sort of confused on how your even going to do this. if you switch the direction you turn, it's going to turn you the opposite way your turn the wheel.........isnt it?

Stumbledin... you have a very good point. I have considered this and one reason why I want this rack to work. Only problem with this rule is that it is a toyota rack and the upper and lower arms dont pivot on a perfect vertical line. I think I have mine setup right but I am still working on it. Shed some more light on this if you can.

Grant... The rack that will work best on my wagon came from a car with a firewall mounted rack. It means the tie rods mount to the backside of the spindle. If I move that to the front of the steer axle(tierods mounted to the front of the spindle) then when I turn the wheel left the car goes right. I need to convert it so when I turn left the car goes left.

Learn to drive it that way. It would make it hard to steal.

i know before and after the crossmember, is what makes it push which ever side of the spindle.

if he puts that gear somehow, in line with his steering shaft, its going to turn him left, when he turns right. and vise versa.
