why in the world are those mazda setups so ugly lol. it may just be how you have to bag them but that shit looks off with the gussets all diff sizes in diff places. Figured it would look more like a yota when done....

gusset that shit though, you don't wanna kill the person riding next to you on the freeway.

I don't understand. You went through all this work making sure you got every 1/8" of travel in your suspension and you don't want to spend another hour (if that) welding in some gussets that will keep your upper arm mounts from ripping off the top of the frame rail. What everybody is saying makes a lot of sense, you even said that you understood what everybody was saying. You notched the frame back into the frame, I understand that. So you have about 1" to 1-1/2" max inside the frame rail, then how much hanging outside of the frame? 4"? 5"? Even if you consider the area of the upper arm mount that hangs past the frame as strength, you are still hanging out past that more than what is NOT hanging out. It's your truck that your risking it with, but it's us that are driving on the same roads. When that thing rips off the frame and you swerve at it one of us, then what? You will wish that you would have spent the time on some simple gussets to tie the bag plate to the side of the frame. Look at all the others that said it happened to them. DOn't be one of them, do it right!

And the inside of my bag plate is nothing like yours or most mazdas... I notched it with the semi circle piece and the bag plate was cut and fit in and slide over the top edg of it and was welded solid and if you look at the pics of the bag side of the mount, you can see the heat marks of the place i welded it on the top side of the mount.... i welded it at the edge of the stock frame and the edge of the upper ca mount.. I seriously doubt it'll go anywhere. I'm gonna try to figure somethin out but if anything, i'll try to gusset the upper ca mount, i can't fit gussets on the bag mount!!! The bag is bigger than the mount! If I do gusset the mount, I'll have to have the gusset come off the top side and come out for an inch or so, then go down... We'll see. I'll figure somethin out before I drive it.

And yes I did spend the time to get every bit of suspension travel cuz the truck will be bodied on 20s.. like yours, but mine will tower over yours.. I jus want it to go from donk to laid out, not jus untuck the rims by an inch or two... Guess i shoulda spent more time gusseting

You know it's guys like you that can't take constructive criticism and end up getting themselves or innocent people hurt. When you ask "what do you guys think" and people that have been there done that answer you with helpful tips don't keep defending your crappy work and saying it will be ok, just fucking dumb!!!!!!!!

This is how I did the front of a Mazda.

It got 10 inches with a trimmed upper arm.

Ha, yep, nothing like mine is right! I don't have the stock upper arm mount, stock upper arm, or anything stock in the front other than the frame. I am not even on bags...........How will yours tower over mine? How and WHY would you even say that? I have 8" hydraulic cylinders, so for you to say that is pretty dumb.

Anyway, back to the fact that I don't understand what you have done???, which I do understand. So the frame is how wide of a box? And you welded to the inside of the box after cutting the face of the frame out. So you are in 2" now, because the frame isn't 5" wide. You are still sticking out past the frame farther than in in, right? So you still need a gusset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't ask for opinions then get all ben outta shape when people give them....there's alot of well known...badass fabricators in this thread telling you to gusset them more....so I would gusset them more. If it was me.....

As for lift.....I get 14 inches of travel with Zero bumpsteer but that's on a fullsize....but I only untuck the wheel by an inch.....what's that tell you about what im tuckin
