I do.
Seriously.
Think about it. If it was a pain in the ass to legally tow a trailer, it would weed out a ton of these jackasses.
I've noticed it a lot lately with the ever-increasing popularity of tow haulers in SoCal. Just last Friday, I saw some douche bag towing a 33 foot bumper pull toy hauler, loaded to the gills with all their crap, with a 1/2 ton Suburban damn near dragging the hitch because it was sagging so badly from being overloaded.
I would REALLY like to see an endorsement for even driving so much as a pickup truck. People think that just because they have a truck, they can load it up with all kinds of shit, tie a little flag on the back (most don't even do that) and as long as it's not draggin the roadway, it's all good. Like I said, the people that really want/need to drive a truck, will go thorough the hassle, and the roads will be a little safer.
I also think that if your towing a trailer, it should be MANDATORY that you stop at the scales. That alone, would correct a ton (no pun intended) of these overloading/weight distribution issues.
Make the cost minimal, but really educate these people on proper vehicle loading, weight limits, etc. Most of us with CDL's already know this stuff and I think most of you would agree with me.
