I also had some really profound statement, but i got so mesmerized by pauls hot ass girl doing pushups or whatever, I totally lost my train of thought!

Also... not everyone wants to take it as far as you do. Some people would be perfectly happy showing the above mentioned Tahoe with the 24's and Katzkin interior.

The real question is why not treat it like any other ride there, check it out and if its not your style move on. Maybe the owner has been looking for someone to Bag it, but has no idea where to start. Maybe its a 16 year old who has been learning paint and body work on his own...

I'm just saying, you're coming off like you started out with what you have now. We all started somewhere man...

Considering the fact that we have been in a recession the last couple years with unemployment reaching record levels, we need to do anything and everything we can do support the shows that have survived.  Take a minute and stop judging people by the rides they brought to a show, say hello and find out their real story.   Maybe they have a sick project at home that they are saving up to buy the next round of parts.  I completely agree with Paul & Matt, its not like we are all born with a set of keys to a cover truck in our back pocket.  The fact is many of these hoopties are still supporting the shows in the same way that you are by paying the admission fees and bringing spectators with them.  The real question is what can we do to help the scene progress?

you know i can remember showing my dodge fullsize with a 3-4 drop at plenty of shows back when i was 16. thats been over 11 years ago, and were probably some of my best times going to shows. i had a lot of people stop by and talk about the truck and what my future plans were. thats was the best part, going over all my FUTURE plans. im just like all those other guys showing stock vehicles with wheels or lowered a bit. we have to start somewhere and im more than proud to do it again. its no ones elses truck but mine and im damn proud of my work. i started slow because thats all the money i had. even today i have another full size that im working on and it to is a slow process, and yes i plan on taking it to a few shows this year. park by some friends and talk truck talk and what ever comes to mind. maybe go over whats in store for her.  everyones got a story you just have to take the time to find it out, and you never know he might have a sicker ride than yourself just sitting at his house waiting for a few parts!

There are some good points made in this thread. And who am I to say someone elses truck isn't good enough to be in the show? However, what comes to mind in Scrapin' the Coast last year. If I remember correctly there were quite a few fully done show trucks that could not get into the show because it was at capacity. There were alot of stock trucks/cars that in my opinion shouldn't have been let into the gate. I understand the need to make money to keep shows going, but when you have a off the lot truck, completely stock taking the place of a bagged/bodied/ or even dropped truck I think its going irritate people. Just my opinion.

First show I went to was The Characters show in like 2005. I had my Silvy with just a 5-7 drop, some flame tint, and 22's. And at that time I thought 5-7 drop was slammed so I had my custom plates that say "LOWOH4". Haha. I didnt think my truck was the shit or anything, but at that point, I really thought I had customized my truck a lot. When you are new to the scene and don't know much about it, Throwing rims, a stereo, and even doing a bolt in C-notch for a lowering kit are BIG things to an everyday person. I think we all get a little bit used to the bagged/hydro'd scene, that it kind of conditions us to start seeing bags as an easy mod. It comes in waves. First you think that bagging your truck is EXTREME, then you bag it and show for a year or so, then you Body it, and the bags dont look like a big mod anymore. It's kind of a snow ball effect and by the time you are done, you have a crazy show truck with nothing factory left. But you have to remember where you started. If it hadnt been for that show in 05' I would have continued to think my truck was heavily modded the way it was, but because I came around to more shows, it drove me to keep doing things until it became feature worthy. So I guess the point of my rant is that instead of coming on here and bitching about why they shouldnt be parked next to you, Do what the guys from Characters and Acrophobia did for me that first show. Go up to them and talk aboud doing more mods, or show them what the scene is about. It was because of the guys in those clubs NOT being dicks to me and actually showing me how customize and better my truck for the shows, that I came to love this lifestlye and the trucks and people in it. I still remember REN from ACRO telling me at that first show that  he would help me earn my LOWOH4 plates if it killed him, haha. And because of that I can now say I have a feature truck and love this scene.  There are people who keep saying this scene is dying, and maybe it would grow and flourish more if we would encourage the guys who are just starting out to go big and further thier customization, instead of coming on here to bitch about how they shouldn't be at the shows... Just my 2 cents...

my only beef with shows right now is sometimes people that win stuff should not have even been there. Now for one I don't care about trophies, but there was a car at a show last year basicly stock with walmart hub caps and a cracked front bumper and it beat out a clean custom camaro. 3 things i see wrong with shows are, people only go for trophies, poor judging set ups and people seem to win because they know someone rather than because of what they have built. That show where the guy one first with his POS, that bothered alot of people other then his club, if something like that happens and you know there has been an error in judging, step up and deny the trophie. It should be about having fun with friends rather then a trophie, if you win congrats, but don't make it the only reason you go.
