---------------------------------------------Originally posted by waynehammeryou guys are making me scared to put on my edc. haha so where do i pouroil into it? and thats the first time i have seen someone ad a crank case filter? do i need one of those? and how do i check the oil on it?---------------------------------------------you install oil on the side. remove the 1/2" head bolt and get a small funnel or hose. add roughly 12oz to an empty comp. to check it, nab a dipstick from airlift (i believe) altho i have never used one myself. i just add what i take from the trap. the filter is again a personal preference, not necessary. oil will be passed reguardless, the a/c comps are made to move freon and 'pag' oil through-out the a/c system

I got my york 210 from a junkyard for $25...old man said it had been sitting on the shelf atleast 10 years...I took it apart...drained it...tapped the heads for my fittings...did the oil mod...filled it full of strait 30w oil and never had a single problem with it. Dailyed it on 11gallons at 205psi for over a year...about 17k miles. I didn't have an oil seperator on it...cause the smc one I had kept leaking and eventually burned up...i just have a drain on my tank. Id drop about 4oz of oil in it once a month. Occasionally check the level with a zip tie and roll it. I used air tools off of it...filled up air mattresses...etc etc etc. Never had a problem out of it. I'll never buy another electric comp in my life. Whole setup cost me about $60. As far as releasing the pressure on the head...I didn't use any thread sealant on the line coming from the compressor to the check valve at the tank...so the pressure would leak down inbetween fills. I didnt vent the crankcase or anything. Just ran it hard trouble free...something aint right with your setup.

If you don't unload the pressure on the head it may leak through fittings but most of it will leak back through the reed valves and piston rings.  You can put a balloon over the vent and it'll fill up overnight.  Not much leaks but enough to blow the oil out of the rings so the next time it starts up it's dry.  Might not ever hurt it, but I have horrible luck and operate on the better safe than sorry principle. -Ryan
