definitely a sweet build. i like home built things way better than the big name guys building stuff.

yes i agree, i mean i have nothing against the big shops by no means , they are badass, and build sweet trucks, i just like to see the more at home , in your garage builds. more of a realistic , budget minded builds. thats what i prefer. personally.

thanks for the complements guys... i appreciate them. it motovates me to work faster....lol

NOW MORE PICS!

i cut some steel for the c-notch for 1 side. i stuck it up against the frame to get a feel of what it will look like. its not perfectly level , or at the right height.., but you get the idea. it is 100% better than the tower of power i made out of cardboard a few pages back...

1 more thing to add to the "to do list".

instead of mounting the york to my engine. i am going to use a 12 volt winch to turn it...

the winch motor will be mounted to the side of a steel box.the york will be mounted to the other side of the steel box. the 2 shaft will be linked together with some sort of hollow steel round bar with set screws on the ends to secure the 2 shafts together......

it will be similar to an oasis air compressor. but mine will cost way less.

the 12v motor is from a brand new 1.9hp, 3000 pound winch. (i got it for free) i bought a whole complete winch on ebay for 35 bucks.(local pickup) i scavenged the motor and sold the rest of the parts on ebay. made close to 40 bucks off the extra parts i didn't use.....lmao

my york was bought at pullapart. i think it was 12 bucks. not expensive at all. you just have to make sure you get one that is pumping air and the clutch is not froze up.

how tall is your frame under the cab area? i know you said you cut 4" off, but what is it now about 4-5" tall?

and have you set up your steering yet? id like to see some pics of how you ran the borgeson joints..

and cool build, i think we are doing the exact same things at the same time.. i didnt take my cab off the frame though

the actual height of my frame is 4 1/2 inches tall .
right, i used 2x4 steel tubing on the inside top of the frame and cut the rest off.. (i left the side and top of the factory frame).. . then i welded a piece of 0.25 inch flat plate on the bottom of the 2x4

i haven't got the steering part done yet. but it should look sorta like this pic when its done. (not my truck)
the exception is mine will have a u-joint on the end of the steering column replacing the factory one.
