its starting to get warmer in april may .
theres stil a tread about it floating around on here somewere i have four 22 inch truck rims and tires and a set of adapters i bought of dragnasty
i have a porterbuild dropmember with adapted strongarms that can take the one ton dropped spindles i have
bacicly i have everything i need to put the pickup together except for the rearsuspension (thinking about a truckarmsetup) and the newer heigth adjustingthingies i like to use to upgrade the airride stuf i have later on
the engine will be a 350 with a th700 trans
the only thing im going to do different is to use the longbed as a base instead of the shortbed
the shortbed truck is going to become a little more of a usuable truck (dutch citystreets are narrow ) a normal single wheel pickup , it whont be slow or quet though with a big block and a th400 and a aftermarket ford rearaxle

here are a few pics i took after i set the bed on it. i cant lay the frame out on the ground. i have a tough time getting the jack back under it.. lol

pics!

i think i like my hubcaps...lol.. i still need to change the front tires out for smaller ones..

the bed isn't setting all the way down on the frame like it should because the lower bag mounts on the rear end is hitting the bed floor. so i need to cut some more bed floor out. and cut a slot in the inside fenderwells so the rear end tubes can move up more.

i got another hood that is in better shape than the one that was on it... its not bolted down all the way. its kinda setting there , just like the front bumper..lmao

kinda sucks, but the bed has to come back off so i can figure out what im going to do with the stock crossmember that used to brace the front leaf spring mounts. the driveshaft is on top of it when it lays out..
im thinking about flipping it upside down and moving it to the new location of the front leaf hangers....

Maybe you've already said and I just missed it, but what are you going to do for your gas tanks? Are you just raising the stock tank where it was or considering something like a fuel cell or something??
sparkys-crewcab   +1y
im not going to use the stock fuel tank. to much hassle to move it up. and i don't like the idea of the tank being that close to the ground..

i have a big 20-30 ?? gallon steel fuel cell that will go in the bed...hopefully next to the back window.. as long as the drive shaft doesn't hit it...
its was originally under the aluminum tool box when i bought the truck. the only thing that sucks is it doesn't have a fuel sender to tell me how much gas i have in the tank.. i have to use a stick like the old days...lol

here is a pic of the tank. its beat up and hagard...lol but it will get sanded down and painted before it gets installed..

this is a sneak peak of how the front wheels will (approx) look like if it was layed out. ..
the more and more i look at this thing. the more i want to paint it black... but damn the body work that it will take to pull it off....

the billet grill is installed .i bought it off ebay for 65.00

the inner fender metal needs to be cut out for tire clearance. (the tire rubs bad . even when the a-arms have no shims

i need to clean / hook up the spark pug wires, and finish up the engine wire harness. all i lack is running the ignition hot wire to the distributor, electric choke, and a switched 12 volt to the cooling fans thermostat. adjust/tighten down the power steering mount..

Looks killer man. You can get a universal sending unit from summit pretty cheap. I used one in a plastic fuel cell one time and it worked pretty well. The one I had was adjustable from 5" to 20" in tank depth if I remember right. The only down fall is without foam in the tank the fuel gauge jumps around when the fuel sloshes. Better than a stick though LOL
