i could do that..... but i would have to tear it all apart again to redo it.... and im lazy... plus i dont think i have enough room to use a wishbone. my gas tank is right in the way....

as long as it rolls down the road without the universal joints roaring like crazy, and the rear tires dont rub anything. it will get drove just like it is...

:update:
Had to buy a new fuel pump yesterday. the old one was brand new 6 years ago. but was stuck....
now the engine runs! and it sounds like a race car... i have a slight exhaust leak. and the mufflers will definitely have to be relocated from under the cab to under the bed, or as far as possible away from everything... the shit it loud! and at a certain rpm the whole entire truck will resonate this god awful sound that i have never heard before.. "drone" is what i think it is called...sounds like your setting right beside a locomotive engine. but at idle its as quiet as can be....

the bad news is... the quadrajet is leaking fuel from everywhere (accelerator pump, and both side of the lower butterfly primary shafts.
so im stuck with the delima of paying someone to rebuild my quadrajunk. 199.00 or more.
or buying another "rebuilt" quadrajet off ebay... $0.00?
or buy a brand new holley 4175 that will bolt right up to the intake .....400.ish
or how about a rebuilt carter thermoquad that is made to replace the quadrajet? 100.00 shipped(rebuilt by carter)

tulsaprez,

the paddle valves take about 12 seconds to raise the rear of the truck. @60-80psi
the front takes about 20 seconds. (@125psi)
i only have 125psi from my roll around air compressor. if i had more air pressure( like 150 or more) it would go up faster.
letting the air out to get the truck to lay is the opposite of going up. the rear takes longer to lay. the front takes about 12 seconds to lay out..

its not fast by any means. but it does get the job done.....

oh, i forgot to add... the only drawback i see with these manual valves is. when you air out. the air comming out stinks like a old rubber tire.....

im happy with the manual valves. it gives you more adjustment. its not like hitting a switch and the truck slams down on the ground. or you hit the switch and it goes all the way up...

I need to weld some steel tubs in the bed and make a cover for the c-notch.. the bed is super weak since i had to trim alot of metal from the wheel wells to get the rear to lay out.

wow dude your build is crazy.

i totally wish i could do this to my 67 International.

I'm sorry to hear about your father, I hope you and your family are doing well and its very nice to see your truck coming together, I'm sure your father would be proud.

nice stuff dude!

Great build thread! If using regular valve, you could use flow controls to slow down and adjust the speed of both airing up and airing out. they're fully adjustable. I had them on my bagged 72 c-10. But obviously using valves and flow controls are more money than paddle valves for the same functions.

I have a Quadrajet that worked fine when I parked the truck a few years ago. Send me a few bucks for shipping and you can have it.

I'm glad to see your sled running again!!!
I'm currently out of town for a week or 2 visiting family. Since my girl and I both work for a school district the summer time is our traveling time lol. We should be home around July 2nd and I'll get those valves shipped out to you. I've got them laying there waiting to ship. I just haven't had time so sorry for the delay. I will get them to you though.
Also do you still have your diesel laying around?? Are you planning on swapping that in after everything has been up and running for a while or did you let it go to someone else??

thanks bagged... when the engine cranked and started up . i had a big ole smile on my face... ( well until the carb started leaking everywhere..lol)

enjoy your vacation bro...i checked out your build thread. your truck is looking good man...

i still have my 6.5 diesel in my garage on the engine stand.. i plan on putting it in the dually in the future. along with a 700r4. its just on the back burner until i get tired of the bad fuel mileage im going to get with the smallblock 350...
the 6.5 just needs a set of head bolts and glow plugs. and a good cleaning & paint....

richard might have a turbo 6.5 for sale soon outta that apache

he hates 6.5's....

his apache dually is just about as cool as they come....

I shouldn't have bought the 6.5 i have. if i was smart. i would have took my 500 bux and saved until i could find a good used 4 cyl cummins (4bt) or a 6 cyl (6bt)...
its a good posibility that i will just put my 6.5 back together and slap it on ebay and sell it... nothing sounds like a cummins..... well....except a semi truck...lol

Cummins do sounds damn good. It's like a Harley when it comes to the unique sound. 6.5L's are bringing a nice chunk of change right now. I thought about going with a 6.5 in my truck also thinking it would be a cheaper route until I started looking around. You can probably at least double your cash on E bay with that thing if ya only have 500 in it. I can't wait to see what kind of mileage I get outa my Cummins. I took a huge risk on getting the donor for my engine, but I think it's going to work pretty well. Right now I'm getting 23MPG, and I hope the dually does about the same with that engine. I'm curious to see what your 350 does compared to the mpg I was getting out of my 454.
