i could do that..... but i would have to tear it all apart again to redo it.... and im lazy... plus i dont think i have enough room to use a wishbone. my gas tank is right in the way....
as long as it rolls down the road without the universal joints roaring like crazy, and the rear tires dont rub anything. it will get drove just like it is...
:update:
Had to buy a new fuel pump yesterday. the old one was brand new 6 years ago. but was stuck....
now the engine runs! and it sounds like a race car... i have a slight exhaust leak. and the mufflers will definitely have to be relocated from under the cab to under the bed, or as far as possible away from everything... the shit it loud! and at a certain rpm the whole entire truck will resonate this god awful sound that i have never heard before.. "drone" is what i think it is called...sounds like your setting right beside a locomotive engine. but at idle its as quiet as can be....
the bad news is... the quadrajet is leaking fuel from everywhere (accelerator pump, and both side of the lower butterfly primary shafts.
so im stuck with the delima of paying someone to rebuild my quadrajunk. 199.00 or more.
or buying another "rebuilt" quadrajet off ebay... $0.00?
or buy a brand new holley 4175 that will bolt right up to the intake .....400.ish
or how about a rebuilt carter thermoquad that is made to replace the quadrajet? 100.00 shipped(rebuilt by carter)
tulsaprez,
the paddle valves take about 12 seconds to raise the rear of the truck. @60-80psi
the front takes about 20 seconds. (@125psi)
i only have 125psi from my roll around air compressor. if i had more air pressure( like 150 or more) it would go up faster.
letting the air out to get the truck to lay is the opposite of going up. the rear takes longer to lay. the front takes about 12 seconds to lay out..
its not fast by any means. but it does get the job done.....
oh, i forgot to add... the only drawback i see with these manual valves is. when you air out. the air comming out stinks like a old rubber tire.....
im happy with the manual valves. it gives you more adjustment. its not like hitting a switch and the truck slams down on the ground. or you hit the switch and it goes all the way up...
I need to weld some steel tubs in the bed and make a cover for the c-notch.. the bed is super weak since i had to trim alot of metal from the wheel wells to get the rear to lay out.
