thanks guys..

the hub caps are in real good shape for how old they are. i could not pass them up. its alot better than having plain old 16 wheels for sure.....the 2 front ones have some light scratches on the face. the backs look better than the fronts.. a guy on ebay wants 50 bucks for just one hubcap.

i am so bored!

i wish it would stop snowing (and being cold) so i could do the rear c-notch etc....im about to throw everything in my one car garage outside, so i can roll the back half of my truck into it. drape a tarp over the rest so the cold wind don't get in. and fire up the heater...

sounds like a plan to me!

Hey awesome thread. Im about to start work on my crew and was wanting to know how you fabbed your lower control arms. How did you know exactly where to add your hole for the bag and what did you use to make it with. I'm assuming 8" pipe and just plated the end????? Thanks

after you take your arms off the truck. you will see that the original spring cup is offset more to one side. all i did was take a 8 3/4 inch pipe (outer diameter) 1/4 inch thick , and layed it down over top the original spring cup pocket hole and centered it the best i could . i traced around the outside of the pipe with a soap stone. i cut the old pocket out and ground down the opening until the pipe fit in the hole. sunk the pipe 2 inches into the arm, then i capped the bottom with some .25 inch thick plate.

before i welded it all together. i test fit the re7 bag in the arm (on the truck) to see if anything was going to be off or have rubbing issues. everything lined up as it should, so i welded it up..

if i could go back and change anything on the arms. i would have used a larger diameter of pipe. around 9 3/4- 10 inches. i would have been able to use a re8. a re7 will work fine for what i need. (just to get the truck off the ground so i can roll.) the pipe i used was free. it was all i could afford at the time...

today it got up to almost 45 degrees and melted all the snow! so i cut out some cardboard to roughly mock up where the notch needs to be.

i measured 4 inches in front of the axle, and 4 inches behind to make room for the axle tube.

the notch is going to be a monster.! 22 inches long around 19 inches tall
