bagged dually   +1y
I went to pull my link bars off today to weld up my 2x4 and really felt like a dumb ass when I saw what I had done. I ended up having to knock to link tabs off, pull the bolt, and remount my lower link bars. I just got in a hurry yesterday I guess. Anyway I got the bolt out, got the links remounted, capped the rec tube, welded and ground down the rec tube to the frame, and set the rear pinion at 3 degrees. Once the pinion angle was set I just tack the a me to the frame so it won't rotate. I wanted to get it all gussets also but after I got my screw up from yesterday fixed i had to come in for the night. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the bracing done.

Don't feel bad. I think we've all done that at some point

Just curious, as I have yet to do a setup like that in the back on my own truck with the bags on the link bars, but how does it ride on a 1-ton?

dont feel bad man....chevrolet done it on every single front leaf spring bolt on the 99-06 chevy trucks.....gotta drop the gas tank just to get the freaking bolt out....how hard would it really be to stick it in from the other side chevrolet....really

Thanks for all the kind words guy. Hearing that Chevy did the same thing makes me feel like less of an dumb ass lol.

As for the ride of the bag on bar setup I've never done it on a dually. They've always riden amazing on mini trucks so why not try it on a dually lol. The only thing that worries me a little is how much I'll be able to tow before I taco the lower bars. I'm using 1/4" 2x2 tubing and I'm thinking about running one of suicide doors bar gussets under the bar or fabbing something similar.

Sweet that was my next question about towing. How much are you planning on towing with them? Car trailer with a mini type setup or Bigger?

i think you shoud be ok with the 2x2 link bars without gjusssets remember most of the wight is on the trailer. just set the bag as close to the axle as posible so you can tow more weight. you loose some lift but will handle more weight. i did the oposite on my 1/2 ton i get a lot of lift and really smooth ride but cant put too much weight on it. truck bed wont lift off the ground

About the biggest thing I ever pull is a 16' trailer with a car. I think I should be good as is. I just need to find the right place to mount my bag to get the best mix of ride quality, lift, and still be able to tow. My trailers a tandem axle so that should help soak up a lot of the load.

Thanks N2l.
