Last night I made it up to the shop. I didn't get much done that was really picture worthy. I basically just finished up a lot of little things that had to be done before the cab can come back off for paint.
1 big problem I was having is trying to find a new place to mount my fuse box so that the wires can come out of it and run into the core support for all of the front lights. I thought about trying to move it up on the firewall from the stock location but I really didn't like that way it was going to look. I really wanted to get the most of the wires Hidden. I doubt I'm the first to do this but I decided to cut the side of the cab area out that sits behind the back of the front fender and mount it there. That way I can run the wiring straight into the fender all the way to the core support and they'll be hidden.
I still have to finish boxing it all in with sheet metal but I at least got it all cut out, mounted, and got the top piece made. The top piece has to have a bend out in it and welded into the firewall to look right.
I just cut the stock firewall cut out where it came through and left about an inch all the way around it and welded that in the new location. It has a lip all the way around the mounting area and I figured it was important to keep that there.
Anyway it's far from done. What is done so far is just tacked in right now but you all get the idea of what I'm going for with it.

looking good broseph! does that area of the cab where you relocated the fuse block bulkhead, does that cavity on the side of the cab serve as a drain for the cowl?? just curious, but im diggin the work man! im thinking i might go back and body drop mine later on! keep these pictures comin!

Yep that area runs water out the side of the cab and out. I put the top piece in over the bulk head at a bit of an angle and left about a 1"-2" space to the back of the new recessed area. I'm really hoping with some quality welds and some seam sealer ill be able to reroute any drainage through that small channel. I guess we'll see though lol.
Man if you body drop your truck give me a call and I can tell you what not to do from experience of trial and error to save you a lot of time. At this point I wish I would have just bagged my truck and drove it. But nnoooo I've gotta be Mr. Go big or go home lol. Before ya know it a bag job turns into a full SFBD on a cummins swap lol. 2 years later hopefully it'll be back on the road.
When its all said and done ill be really glad I just did everything at once and got it over with though. It just sucks not being able to drive my truck for so long. When its done ill have the exact truck I want though.

Hey man...I spent the last 4 days (well, early mornings/late nights) reading the last few years of your life. Hope you are soon ready to roll! Had some good l-o-l moments, as well as wincing with you. Overall exciting times...

hey thanks a lot man!!! Always nice to hear people are enjoying the build.
I just got to Springfield actually. I'm going to try and work on the truck the better part of tonight and tomorrow so hopefully I'll get it all stripped back down and get everything finish welded so I can get it back together for good and back on the road.
As soon as I get the Cummins out Ive gotta find a way the set it up some how so I can safely get under and get the pan off. I still have to section the pan and of course pickup tube about 2" to be higher than the cross member.
I'll post an update in the next couple of days of any progress we make.

do you have any garage space or somewhere solid? I think your best bet is going to be one of those four post engine stands...the ones that can hold 1500 lbs or more, since that engine is right at 1200 lbs dry...

Yeah, I had a 6BT in my 1970 C10...they are easy to wire up....just heavy as hell

Its about 3:15 a.m. right now and I just walked in from working on the truck. I've had the help of my little brother most of the night so we got a bit done. We're basically just trying to get everything buttoned up so the cab can come back off.
I almost got the new fuse block/Wiring bulkhead spot finished, and than went on to start tubbing the firewall. I cant really finish the wiring spot until I get the tubs done due to the tubs cutting through the edge of of that area.
We also hit the engine a little bit. I finally got the front cover resealed from when I did the KDP tabbed down.

The rest of the night we basically just started tearing down what we could to be as ready as we can to yank the cab and engine.

I snapped a couple pictures of the passenger side tub started. I basically just cut out an area big enough to have tire clearance when I'm turning with not much air in the bags. After that I just cut out a piece of 18 Gauge and started working it in there. I'll have this side down tomorrow and hopefully the drivers side also and the cab can come off.

What did you get done on the front of yours??
I wish I could have gotten more done but if I only get a little work done and I'm happy with the quality than its worth it to me.
