Yep, I actually plan on cutting the front straight and taking a 1" strip outta the frame rather than cutting it back on an angle

I've gotta have a new rear shaft made up since I've shortened the truck a foot so I'll work it in back there

I've been really busy this past week but managed to squeeze in some garage time and work on this crossmember... Ive got a bunch of time into it so far and I definitely made it more complicated than it needed to be, but I just didn't want it to look boring.
Here's the start of the centre section
thread post photo

Top plate set on... It tapers an inch towards the middle
thread post photo

Welding it up
thread post photo

One piece complete...Just set in place for the pic... 2 more to go
thread post photo

Started making some more plates... Gotta make sure they're all the same
thread post photo

Tackin up
thread post photo

Bend... Tack... Bend... Tack ... Repeat
thread post photo

All fitted and prepped for welding
thread post photo

Welding time.., always set up your parts for optimal welding positions if ya can
thread post photo

All welded and ready to be cleaned
thread post photo

Now turning all 3 pieces into 1 as well as setting up the 4 link tabs
thread post photo

Tabs getting welded up
thread post photo

Close up after cleaning
thread post photo

And here it is finally set back into the frame ready to be welded in solid
thread post photo

Another shot of it in place
thread post photo

I'm happy with the way it's turned out although I think I'm gonna smooth out the welds around all the edges so it flows better with the rest of the frame rails (even though I hate seeing welds ground down but oh well)

Ok, more updates... Here's the pieces I started out with to make the rear bridge between the rails
thread post photo

Welded the 2 halves together
thread post photo

Tacking in the tube pieces for inside each hole
thread post photo

Top plate on
thread post photo

Welded inside each hole... One pass without any restarts
thread post photo

Boxing it in with the side plates
thread post photo

Another shot of the holes welded up
thread post photo

Seams welded up and metal finished
thread post photo

Centre piece cut and tacked in for a test fit
thread post photo

Close up
thread post photo

Start of the outer pieces... Had to bend these all by hand
thread post photo

One piece all welded up before metal prep
thread post photo

Prepped and one side tacked in
thread post photo

All 3 pieces tacked
thread post photo

And there we have it, everything fitted and tacked in place... Obviously it's not fully ready to be welded in, but you can get the idea I'm going for... Eventually it'll be welded and smoothed right into the frame rails for a nice clean look. The bags are going to mount underneath of the outer large circles.

Couple more shots
