Hello from SoCal my 1st mini build

So this is my first mini. 89 b22oo guy wanted 1350 i got it for 800$. has been a nightmare but will be pretty cool in the end. Body is straight, minus the bed but it will be fixed anyways when i Body drop and put bags on it. Thinking about chopping the roof, and putting a fuel injected motor in it later. Gonna go with a Lambo green with black or a Corvette Orange. We will see. Hope to get some better pics when it looks better.

Been a few months, i have done some painting. Not a body work kinda guy, so as long as it looks better then what it was, im happy. Here it is. (and this is all rattle can) not too bad if you ask me.
This isnt the color i want, but it looks better then that Faded crappy silver sh*t
Front is lookin good(except i have cracks in the hood from the paint shrinking)

Pulled the bed off, pounded out dents, bedlined it and painted it

Then i took off the door, took it apart and painted it inside and out.


Still need to paint the cab, as well as the Passenger side door. But hey, its getting there.

Looks like a good start man! As for the tailgate go ebay man just bought mine. The only thing is they don't have the mazda stamped tailgate... I know what you mean about body work. I feel that's all I've done to mine (don't give up it does end! Ithink)
What are your plans for the motor swap?

A neighbor of myne has the mazda stamped tailgate, but he wants like 100$ for it. ill stick with my dented one ha.

Motor swap i want a fuel injected motor, found one for 500$ with my motor. Not sure what ima do with that, but i will get FI eventually. Carb just doesnt have the power and ive rebuilt the motor and the carb.

But with the bags i will eventually put on it, i guess i dont need to go fast, i just want enough power to not have to downshift to 4th or even 3rd just to make it up the hill.

But now, im off to the garage to do some more painting.

Everything is painted except the Passenger door. Even painted behind the seats. so cant wait to see it finished. Tired of masking things off and not driving my truck. Here we go.

Need to decide what color to go on the rims. I painted one black and one white, any input would be appreciated.

Next project will be a motor swap or bag and body drop. Honestly im going towards the bag/body drop. but we shall see.

So today my brother and I went to the Pick-a-part and found a few things. Then found out it was 50% off all weekend. SWEET! excited about a junk yard haha.

Anyways for 50$ i got a new tailgate to replace the beat to hell and back tailgate i have. Even has the mazda stamped in it. Also picked up a couple rims, now i can sandblast and paint 2 at a time then swap them and get a matching set for the time being and a spare.

Gonna run out there again tomorrow before the SuperBowl and possibly pick up a VW engine. not a bad weekend so far,

Been cold here too last few weeks, but in the garage it wasnt bad for painting. Finally started to warm up though.
