Hello from SoCal my 1st mini build

School started, so my classes take up some time during the week that i cant take the door off and finish, and weekends tend to fixing problems that arise. But anyways, the rims i picked up, i cut the tire off, sandblaster one and put some color on it. I think it looks pretty good. Color is carbonite, im liking the color and im thinking i might do Metallic orange and this Carbonite in a 2 tone later on.

Now to finish the other one, then go swap them out and do it again. Eventually they will all match

dude. did u paint all that with a rattle can?!?! looks good as shit. i might need some rattle can paint tips cause mine never comes out that shiney. did u clear coat it? looks like u did. looks good man.

Yeah rattle can from Pepboys Duplicolor, Acrylic Enamel. I wet sanded it quite a few times, primer, wetsand, clor wetsand, 2nd coat of color, more wetsand, then clear. Doesnt really matter what you use to lay out the paint, its all the same thing. Just depends on the prep work. I also painted my truck in the garage at night with temps about 30-40 degrees ha. Still came out good. Except my hood, that was the first piece i painted and it has tons of cracks, i didnt really take my time on that but i know where i screwed up, mixing paints that dont work together. I've talked to guys who bought spray cans and emptied them into a Spray Gun and painted their cars like that. Weird but whatever haha.

Just takes time and patience, I just bought a cheap Spray Gun at harbor frieght, 12.99 on sale, cant complain. New toy to play with and see how my new tailgate comes out lookin.
Ill eventually be sandblasting the whole truck, then actually do body work, and repaint it with colors i actually want.

hell yea. i had my hood painted on my old truck with some kind of rustoleum thru a spray gun, and it looked pretty decent. i think it was like $20 dollars a gallon from lowes or somthin. had a buddy do it at the shop where he goes to school.

nicee when i was in mexico last year i got to drive a friends 1996 (old style bugg they made them up till 1997 like the 60 70s bugs here it was funn thinking bout getting one but i gotta get one with A/c or get one and buy the a/c kit

Yeah mexico made bugs until 2003. Problem i have with them is they are "fat chicks" dont like anything '68+ i mean ill look at them at shows, ill look at all the work poured into them. But if someone said hey i have a 71 bug for 300$. id buy it, pull the motor and scrap the rest haha.

I had a '65 my bro has a '63. someone offered me more then what the car was worth, so hey i jumped on it. Now i have the mazda. Im uploading pics now, had to find them in amungst all my other pictures and projects.

They sell A/C kits ive seen a few on Craigslist, and i know someone with one. But id rather have the wing window open, windows down cruising haha.

We've been working on it for over a year, tons of sleepless weekends, tons of redbulls and pizza. Here is a few pics to get an idea, then when you finish looking at these the link is above, so you can see all of them.

Quick runthrough of the bug.
600$ for the bug, all parts(minus the 2 rear fenders) all original. Down to the rusted out floor pans. came with 2 new pan halfs,(300$) bought a 1641DP shaved the raingutters, swapped the pans, RHD conversion, Oval window rear clip. heres some pics.
