Yeah, the way I see it, every gearhead needs at least 2 cars and a truck. You need a project car, a daily driver, a hauler, and a nice car for special occasions (dates, etc). Typically, a vehicle assumes mutliple roles.
Right now my Mazda is: daily driver, project, and hauler.
But for the simple joy of driving, there is only one scenario that keeps me in garage working late: My old supra, targa off on a moonlit summer night, with the boost gauge on the wrong side of 12 psi. That's romance, and no truck can get my heart beating the same way.
Conversely, I've moved myself 3 times, my wife twice, and countless friends with the mazda. Hauled a ton o bricks, a parts truck in pieces, all sorts of motors, transmissions and miscellaneous bric-a-brac. That's fuctionality that puts a glow on a pragmatists face

... But I largely digress...

How about 50 bales of hay into the pasture. - ya it is a farm truck. Had cows clibmbing into the bed to get the barley in the pails.

Ya I had thought about the flip for the rear - BUT going to a Toyota V6 axle will add some strength and also lower gearing to compensate for the 31's I am wanting to use.

Your truck is looking good - I just want to go higher. I'm tired of everyone from the pre runner sites saying " sell it get a ranger or a toyota" anyone can buy parts and put them on. I want the lift BUT I also want the travel as well. I wanna bash the shit out of this thing when it is done.

Sweet...

This sounds like what you need, but pricey.

Or maybe a toyota solid axle conversion?

$820 for a lift kit??? That is freakin crazy!

why isn't the lift kit on Fabtechs site?

surely if they made it it would be on there......

but it looks like that kit gets all its lift from the torsion bars, and the control arms are for nothing but camber correction....

Thinking of something like this:

since it is 2wd, couldn't you just build some drop brackets for all the suspension mounting points for the amount of lift you want up front?

then out back would be the same as any truck
