Ok guys.. As promised, this is my kind of journal I have been keeping. I was posting it all on a ranger forum until I found here.
So, I think I will repost most of the other topic here to get you guys caught up.
Start old posts..... NOW!

Hey guys,
Well, I did it! I got a truck, finally MINE!!!!!
Ok here are some pics to start off. I am going to log all the updates and changes here.
The current plan is:
Fix all rust. Pull off bed, paint frame rails/underside of box/underside of cab with POR15. Get rust repairs painted. Paint grill and bumpers (they are faded and or black not blue.) Get spray on bed liner either, get it done or do it my self. Also spray floor with liner in cab (after removing carpet.) Find a way to install sub box. Replace seats. Get new wheels.
I also found out I will have to change the oil. Just found out I will be replacing the rear shocks and possibly leafs. That seems like all of it...

Spent the whole day cleaning out the garage...
At about 9:00pm,
I finally got the truck!
We signed off the title, NOW ITS MINE!
I started tonight on it by removing the cap, removing the tailgate and head lights. I also took off the bug deflector.
There is quite a bit of rust by the tailights and roll pan area so I am getting ready to fix it all.
Here is a pic of it!
Specs:
91' Mazda B2200 Plus Cab. 2.2L Manual.
Has about 212k on it. The owner we bout it from put about 10k on it in 2 years and well over $1,000 in repairs. They gave us most of the reciepts for the work.
The price they bought it for was $2300. I buy it with more then $1,000 in repairs and only 10k more on the engine for only $2,000.
I am extremely happy!
P.S. It just passed e-test with no problems less than a week ago.
More pics to come tommorow in daylight.

Ok guys, got alot of pics.
Here is a side shot of it w/o the cap.
So we got the bumper off and as expected, alot of rust. But it is secluded to the one area.
These pics are scary, You HAVE been warned!
Also, this is after clawing away at it with a hammer to get all the loose rust off of it.
Here is another showing the undeneath. Of course remember I most likely will be painting all the frame rails etc.
Now, I discovered something in the interior. If you take out all the rear paneling and take the seat back, flip it over, and line it up with the window, it actually lines up with a nice mount.
Then if you simply take out a few fabric staples you can get to the other mount screws that are attached to the seat and move them over an inch or two so they also line up.
The reason I want to do this is so I can then build a sub box where the seat used to fold down and screw the bottom seat pads to it.
For example:
This way you get 6" under the seat and all of the interior panels still line up and look stock.
Overall the sub box could be 16x6x54" making exactly 3 cubic feet.
Before lifting the seat back, there was a 6" plastic panel screwed above it. Also, the seat bottoms used to touch the floor.
What do you guys think?

P.S. I will be getting some new synthetic oil and rear shocks tonight... That is tonights project.

Well, just got all the oil changed. Before I did it the previous owner put some "stop smoke" stuff into the oil and it ended up tripling the smoke. It was more smoke than a burn out from a top fuel drag car! I was gonna get pics but couldnt see the camera sitting on the dash LOL! So anyways, we replace all the oil with the best synthetic stuff I could find and put a Fram oil filter on and wow, no smoke. We also put "Water Wetter" in the coolant system, should help to prolong its life.
Anyways, here are some before pictures of the front end and some pics after stripping it.
Also, here are pics of my garage yesterday, and tonight... LOL

Well I gave her a nice wash today and started marking all the imperfections in the paint so I have an idea of what will need painting.
So here are pics of whats going to be painted.
THE HOOD
Everything below the red line
Some of the roof, probably fade it in.
Once again, everything below the red line.
Also painting the bumper and grill. Possibly the trim around the windshield.

(This is a reply to someone else)
I'm contimplating painting it all altho I work at a body shop, so less paint they have to do on my truck the more they will be happy. Yes I am thinking about the whole truck tho.
Also thinking about doing a two tone and painting the bottom half a diff. color. Any ideas what looks good with dark blue on top?

Ok guys, here is an update.
Saturday, July 8, 2006!
I have looked for a bed and cant find anything. So my decision right now is to basically replace as much of the rusty metal on the back as possible. Any rust that is left on the backside of the metal will be painted with POR15.
Today, I started by marking the areas to be replaced and then cutting out a patch, bending it to the correct shape and cutting out the bad metal. All in all the patch looks pretty good. I wont weld it in until I have the rest of the patches made.
The area:
The patch over the bad area:
Most of the area cut out:
After all of the area is cut out the patch is laid over for fitting:
Keep in mind, I just turned 16 and this is basically my first try at real rust repair.

Ok... Not such good progress today.
My rad support is rusted out, horribly rusted out. The whole lower peice is basically missing.
So, I got a new one, painted it myself and THEN I find out that the old one is wonderfully spot-welded on... *sigh*
So the problem is, if I drill out all the spots to get the old one out, then when I put the new one in, re-welding the spots would wreck the paint. However, that still isnt an option because to weld in the spots I would have to weld from inside the engine bay... URGH. I could always try to drill holes in the new one to match the holes in the truck but that is way to hard.
So, My idea is to simply drill the old one off put the new one on with a s***load of glue and try to drill a bunch of holes straight through and run some bolts in. The glue would be really to help it seal so water doesnt get between the layers and rust the new peice to s***. It would also help to hold it down where I didnt put bolts.
What do you guys think?
Before:
New support painted up:
After transferring as many parts as possible...
After a nights worth of work.... Big change eh...
Well that sums up tonight.
