Thanks for all the comments. Still hogging away on the truck.... Not a lot has been going on because my daily for while I am doing this truck has had a lot of issues so I have been wasting lots of time and money on it instead. Hoping to get the motor done soon. I am painting the valve cover and air box tomorrow at work color matched to the truck (If you have any ideas for colors that would look good with DV that I could paint those parts then feel free to post them.) just to make the engine look a little nicer.

Luckily I had bought a parts truck if you guys remember and it is one of the best things I have ever done. It makes it soo much easier to rebuild the motor and has saved A LOT of posts on here about 'where does this go' type of deal. I will be hooking up the carb pretty soon so it is going to get much harder. When I get some money I plan on getting a nice upgraded carb. As for mods to the engine I am doing now it will only have some headers and none of that stupid air recycling crap and a nice set of electric rad fans.

Anyways I will keep you guys posted. I am going away for a few days this weekend so I won't get any work done on it unfortunately...

Does anyone have any tips for rebuilding motors that often get missed or forgotten?

Also, when I was sandblasting in the engine bay I am worried I may have got some sand in some of the tubes and such that are everywhere. After I get the motor together is there anyway I can flush mainly the power steering and cooling systems? If so how do I do it and what do I use? (Water?)

Thanks,
Zac

So my truck seems to be for the most part all buttoned up. A few minor things but no big deals. Tonight I tried to fire the motor altho the gas in it is old... I have spark and had it turning over nicely it wants to fire just no good fuel or the fuel isn't making it to it. It fired a few times off quickstart so yea, all good signs for the most part. I missed a coolant hose under the intake so I had some nice leaks for a few minutes but tomorrow it should be running for the first time in nearly a year. Or atleast the first time properly in a year.

Anyways, more to come including pics.

Well heres some pics of the truck finally for the most part together. There are a few minor things to hook up like the electric rad fan and some various other items but it is in potential running order. We now have determined that we have spark, we checked the gauge on the carb and there is fuel making it up to the gauge but it wont ignite. It sends some nice little bursts of smoke out of the carb but still wont fire. After attempting to get it running for a while my starter got wrecked, a very small 1" long wire that is about 4 gauge ended up just breaking because of the age of the wire. I pulled the one from the parts truck but it has the same problem. I attempted to solder it a bit but the solder wont take because there is rustproofing on both of the wires. If I try to remove the rustpoofing the wires just crumble and you cannot replace it. It connects straight to the magnets inside of it. So anyways, I will be getting yet another new part. Any ideas on what might be causing the motor to not run or what I can check to determine the problem.

Heres a breif list of the parts I have replaced on the truck now just so I can try to keep track.

Rad Support (New)
Alternator (New)
Gas Tank (used)
Sending Unit (New)
Rear Shocks (New)
Electric Fan conversion (Basically New)
After market Headers (Basically New)
Fully Rebuilt top and bottom end of motor
Bed (used)
Roll Pan
Exhaust 2.5" front to back with cat and muffler. (Basically new)

I know there are other things but nothing else that is fairly expensive.

Anyways, here are the pictures:

I was supposed to paint a few of the parts at my work color matched but ended up not doing it just so I could get it together. This truck is not meant to be a show truck. Merely just a restored B2200. For now. You will also notice the grounds in the picture which I figured I would put in before everything was in. There is five 4g grounds all with copper ends soldered and shrink wrapped on.

Hope I didn't miss anything.

whats with all the grounds on the battery? upi realize grounds go the the frame, typically you want 1 major ground junction, not multiple, it creates interferance, just so you know..

Yea I didn't have a distribution block so this is just for the mean time till I find one. I would really like to find a nice battery terminal with atleast 5 4g outputs but they are hard to find. I have always grounded my vehicles for stereos with multiple ground wires going to different parts of the vehicle such as the frame, body motor etc. rather then one big one. Plus it is much easier to route then 0g for example.
