makin some gerat progress. the front rad support is lookin brand new!!!
so what do you want to do in the rear of the cab? make a sub bowx that is as wide as the whole cab, then put your stock seats on top of the box?
not a bad idea, but you cant have very high of a box cuz then ur head will be hittin the roof is anyone is back there.

Yeah thats basically the idea, and no, MY head wont be hitting the roof and I don't care about anyone else LOL If they wanna ride they have to pay the price with a sore neck/head.

Other than the head room it is more comfortable off the ground like that.

Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006!

Ok guys...

I found a bed!

Not in great shape but the back end where mine is rusted out is still in ok shape. Also the bed itself has no rust.

The previous owner did patch the roll pan althouhg when I bought it he gave me a free smooth rollpan for me to weld in.

I payed $500 for it and he also gave me a grill in awesome condition and a tailgate. (and the rollpan)

So here are some pics (yes it is upside down, I fixed the bottom of the bed first then am going to flip it and fix the rest than pop it on the truck):

Ignore the red paint... I think it was initially so as he sanded he could see the low spots but then he sold it to me..

The bottom of it. notice all there is is surface rust:

The bad rust in the roll pan area:

After stripping off all the paint and grinding off as much surface rust as possible, I primed it all.

Then I coated it in gravel gaurd:

So yeah that is today so far.

I am now going to work on getting the old bed off and when my dad and brother get home we can flip the bed and I can start on the other side..

Sunday, Aug. 6, 2007!

Ok so after getting home from the autoslolom I got some more work done on the bed.

I looked around my bed and discovered bondo (yes, actually bondo, th shite Canadian tire stuff)

This worried me... I thought OH CRAP! I bought a bed just as bad as my original but patched up...

So I started stripping it off and after a 1/2" in some areas got down to bare metal. Truns out the two bed corners just have a bunch of dents! What a relief... The guy just didnt know how to fix them.

So here are some pics. Aslo, these dents are probably 1/2 the size as before, I hammered them out a bit.

Then I took everything off the bottom edges of the bed and the wheel wells to find VERY little if ANY rust on them. Most that was there came off with the strip wheel although I will need to do a little sandblasting.

gonna need a shrink hammer eh!
I 've been looking for one I like, no luck yet.
My rule on filler is never usemore than a roll of dimes' size in one spot, if it's bad enough you can always weld in a new panel.

that metal on the bed is lookin solid!
how much did you get the bed for? looks like a great deal...

the rust on the roll pan just looks like surface rust, grind that down and paint it up!

Well I payed $500 for the bed, a tailgate, a mazda grill in mint shape and a brand new smooth rollpan for the bed. But I am still waiting for him to drop off the roll pan.
