From the inhalation stand point - yes, it is bad if you create fumes. If you are handling it at work then the question is are you wearing gloves or washing your hands after using the lead and before eating? If so, then you should be fine. If you were to somehow ingest the lead then that to is bad (kids chewing on paint with lead in it)

Good post.I was going to say that the worst case of mental retardation I ever saw was a little child that had gnawed on his crib which happened to be painted with a lead based paint.Child was severely handicapped-no ones fault-no one knew the crib had wrong paint on it.Sad case.BJ

^ Yes it is. Unfortunately I run across way to much of it. For what ever reason, this part of the country used a lot of lead based paint - especially in low rent housing. At least there is finally regulations it place to help deal with the situation. Cases of childhood lead poisening are finally on the decline.
