Funny story about christians! Nothing bad or name calling but I just think its funny.

I lived in bham alabama in '99 I was a door to door salesman. Boy I hated that fucking job. But anyways I moved there from Denver CO cause my friend got promoted to owner and wanted to open up shop in bham for some strange ass reason. Every freakin house I went to would invite me in and then began to preach to me and asked if I know the way of god and his teachings. I dont know how many times people read the bible to me. The most screwed up part is that these chumps wouldnt buy what the hell I was selling. But they did offer food! Which was a plus since they wouldnt buy anything and I couldnt buy my own damn food! So I would listen to them preach while I ate then I would be like thanks for the food but I gotta get outta here. Sometimes after I had already eaten for the day at the neighbors house or something when I went to the next house they would ask me if I heard the word of god I would just mess with them and tell them all kinds of stuff just to screw with them!

it has been said that the biggest cause of atheism (not believing in God) has been "Christians" today who can go to church, but then walk out and turn away from God through their words and actions.
all i can say is try not to judge all Christians by one experience or person. We are all sinners, I mess up everyday.
we stereotype and look on groups of all people all the time.

a lot of people in the car/truck community would lable MiniTruckers as guys who are pissed off outcasts trying to prove to everyone like they have the best truck. which we all know is def not the case...

lol so many use that from the beginning of DC Talk's "What if I Stumble" One of the greatest songs ever.

Blare, for Christians being "saved" is a matter of faith...not just thinking. We have Faith that the Word of God is true. We have Faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and when He was crucified, He died for all our sin. He then rose again, (actually witness by thousands), to prove there was life after death. Then He ascended back to Heaven and is now sitting at the right hand of God the Father. But when He ascended He then sent down what we know as the 3rd person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit.

When we invite Christ into our heart, we are actually inviting the Holy Spirit into our lives to help guide us in to God's will.

When a person gets "saved", what it means is they have put their Faith in Christ for their Salvation and remission of their sins. They have been "saved" from the penalty of sin, which is death. They have commited their lives to doing the will of God, and commited to living by Faith in God. Not just "believing". It's also what we call being "Born again."

In John chapter 3, Nicodemus, (a religious leader at that time), was talking with Jesus and Jesus told him how one get's to Heaven.

[quote]John3:3-8
3In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

4"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

5Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

9"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.

10"You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? 11I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heavenâ€

That is true. When the pastor is preaching he is soposed to be preaching the words that our Lord Jesus put on his heart. The pastor is still a human being and all human beings are sinners, no matter how holy they think they are. We are all children of the Lord and he loves us all equaly.

Me and the wife are catholics and that is one of the reasons we quit going to church. During a sermon the priest actually started begging for money. They only had 2 million they needed another million to build another church. It was the worst thing I had ever seen. Someone begging for money when they should be preaching about god and all that other stuff. I want to stress it wasnt the normal if you can give great. He was like we need the money even if you cant make ends meet you need to donate to our cause!!!! We never found a church that we liked so we just quit going after going to 4 other churches. The thing that is bad is the church where the priest was begging was the one we got married at!! I couldnt then and still cant now believe the gull of that priest telling people to donate even if they couldnt put food on the table what a joke!

^^ That is sad that he'd do that. A good sermon on tithing is always needed, and I can understand asking the church to help with a building fund, etc, but to tell you "even if you don't have food giveus money" lol that's just crazy.

I hate that it "ran" you out of church though, and sorry you couldn't find another. I do hope you're still living faithfully though. Have you tried going back to that church to see if he had been transferred yet?

My wife and I almost joined the Catholic Church at one time. We absolutely loved the "main" priest there, but the "intern" priest made us feel awkward. He actually ended up leaving the church, the whole Catholic church, from we now know.

The pastor that married my wife and I actually ended up leaving his wife after having an affair on her......while we were married "under" him! It almost killed our church. We even left it, and that's when we looked into the Catholic Church. But after a few months God lead me to lead us back to our "home" church. I told my wife it's up to us, the congregation and church family, to keep the church going. We now have one of the best pastors I've ever known, and the church has grown amazingly since he's been pastor.

My wife still "questions" if our marriage is "legit" or not lol due to that previous pastor

Count me in, though I have sympathy for the Gnostics.

For those reading on, it's important to note that God is not church. God is not people acting in His name. God is not hypocracy, nor bloodlust.

i tried to stay away from this, but had to read it. honestly i dont know waht i am. when i was born i was jewish, my dad left and all of a sudden im catholic! started doing the whole church thing camps, trips, and whatever else came up. after high school my gf at the time was a baptist, went to her church like 2 or 3 times. now that im married im christian, i think? we used to attend a christian church that my cousin got us into, a great church i might add. it has been a year since we have moved and still not able to find a decent church. i tried one that a guy from work recomended, i have never been so scared in my life! scared at church, thats a new one for yall? it was crazy. later that week i told some guys at work about it and they said that it was a cult! at first i was like no it couldnt be, but then i started thiking about it and it kinda made sense. the church is out in the middle of nowhere, when you get there youre greeted by every dam body, and then they come and take your kids away, and when they leave they shut off the lights and lock the doors! crazy huh?

Rofl...

Sorry but that reminds me of some horror flick or something I don't know why lol.

Anywho, first off, being a Christian is not what church you go to or denomination you belong to, or even what family you were born into. Being a Christian is about what you believe. If you believe Christ is who He says He is, did what He said He did, and can do what He says He's gonn do, and you've accepted His sacrifice for your sin, then hey...WELCOME TO THE CLUB

Now if you don't believe all that, then uh maybe you ought really start examine yourself and do something

I would say half or more of us have been to a church that scared us a time or two lol. Lots of truly Christian ones as well. Levitation, speaking in tongues, healings etc. Just some scarey people sometimes. But hey if they love the Lord with all their heart, all their soul, and all their strength, then more power to them and praise God for them.
