Thx Josh & Ed! Glad you got your sidedraught tuned in, and yeah, getting them tuned right does offer a great deal of satisfaction!!
BJ, I am with ya, I would like to have a stock or near stock truck to check the vac on @ idle and up thru the rpm range sa in 500 rpm increments (if anyone has a vac gauge & near stock b2200, and cares to take some readings & post them up I would greatly appreciate it!), that would give me an idea if I'm in the ball park......
I also need to take a gander at my old dizzy, I'm getting old & can't remember if there is any mech advance weights & springs built into them or if it is just vac advance...if there is mech advance, it would take over after the vac advance falls off, so the vac issue may be as simple as only pulling reference from one runner instead of all four runners on the intake, or some combo of the such to get it in the right range close to stock @ idle, and as the vac advance falls off as you gain rpm's, the mech adv takes over....now if the dizzy doesn't have mech advance, I'll have to figure some way of correcting the high vac at idle falling off to no vac as the engine revs....I may be able to use the aux venturies from these carbs, they offer some vac at idle, and then as the rpms go up, so will the vac which would correct the issue....but no point in purchasing the aux venturies ($26 ea.) if the dizzy has both mech & vac advance....not to mention installing them on the ports that I have tapped into the carb flange on the intake would require removing the intake & carrying it back to the welder, plus putting them in would restrict the airflow somewhat....ah, the trials & tribulations of r&d & tuning....at least I've got something to tune on now instead of an empty engine bay, lol haha!!
I'll be sure to take it easy on the first road test.....I'm quite sure the brakes, clutch & throttle will take some getting used to.
