Thanks for the info BJ, it is def a trial & error deal, not to mention $5 a jet, that can get expensive when there are 2 per carb! I'm fairly sure I'm getting enough gas, just prolly not the right air/fuel mixture thru the idle jets, so I ordered several different sized, along with some other tuning goodies, hopefully with a little test & tune, I'll have it running right before long.....
Base setting that came with the 45's:
Main Choke/Venturi = 36
Aux Choke/Venturi = 4.5
Main Jet = 145
Emulsion Tube = F16
Air Corrector = 155
Idle Jet = 55F8
Pump Jet [int] = 45, Pump Jet [exh] = 40
Needle Vlv = 2.00
What the weber books I got said:
Main Choke/Venturi = 36 up to 38 for max wot power
Aux Choke/Venturi = 4.5 up to 5.0 again for max wot power
Main Jet = 145 good for 500cc per cyl engine, 150 for 550cc, 155 for 600cc, with the +1mm overbore, my engine comes out to 2235 cc total, 558.8cc per cyl
Emulsion Tube = F16 for 300-425cc, F2 for 425-550cc [F# is air correction factor of the particular emul-tube]
Air Corrector = 155, Recommended starting with 160, and go leaner (larger #)
Idle Jet = 55F8 (155 is good for 490-560cc) [F# is air correction factor of the jet series]
Pump Jet [int] = 45 Pump Jet [exh] = 40 For 500-600cc 45 on int, 40 on exh, 600-700cc 50 int, 45 exh
Needle Vlv = 2.00 For 500-600cc, 2.25 for 600-700cc
What I ordered:
Main Jets = 150
Idle Jets = ordered 3 different F#'s, lean to rich = 55F2, 55F11, 55F9
Air Corr Jets = 165, 175
Emul Tubes = F2, and F9
I didn't get the larger main or aux choke since I'm not gonna be at wot all the time, driveability & fuel efficency with max power, the pump jets are sized correctly per the books recommendations as is the needle vlv....I figure with having two main jets, 4 idle jets, two air corr jets, and three emul tubes, I ought to be able to find the sweet spot so that i get the best tune all the way from idle to wot...fingers crossed, we shall see this weekend as long as the place I order them from has them in stock...
