Thanks guys!

But I have to admit, "mazdagraveyard" motor is pretty sweet lookin. Might have to try the mirror black powder coat on a couple of the daughters engine pieces.

Its a nice looking engine but I must say if you are actually planning on driving this truck then is it worth it to replace all the brackets and bolts and such.... They are gonna rust and look like an old 2.2s parts pretty quickly. Could have just painted a lot of those parts for half the money.

Any pics of the truck this is going in I am still pretty excited to see the build.

I volunteer to give Graveyard or Immortal my truck to put either one of those engines in-as long as I could drive it back to Tennessee and show it off.Lol.BJ

Would bet that Graveyard's motor would make the journey. Know for a fact mine would (now that I have the mechanical rockers installed - I hate the sound of a collapsed HRA). Unfortunately, I don't have any plans of getting rid of the motor just yet.

i think the guy was going more for quality with a little power.notice he said every thing was bought from mazda.that wont be cheap by any means.and i would rank the f2 motors up there with the 22r.my motor had 310,xxx miles on it before i ripped it out for a stroked 351.and it didnt leak or burn a drop of oil, i hated to take it out but it was so freakin slow with the hydraulics on it

10k.... now I see what maztang what talking about the other day(and it appears as to our discussion maztang, it is just the motor, and not all of the other incidentals), damn nice motor! very kleen, looks better than one off of the factory's assembly line! BUT (not hatin here) i don't know about it being the baddest, and I'd say that immortal's is the kleenist that i've seen...maybe it should have been titled "The most Expensive 2.2 on the planet." but as was said to each his own, and mad props for a kleen engine.....

With that said, I'd like to see a little better breakdown of just what's in the motor, I mean we know he spent a small fortune on machine shop work, at least 2-3k if not 5k (it's gonna cost me @ 2.5k). so far, we know the JE pistons (what comp ratio? I see they are flat top, my wiseco's have a very
small dish, and are 10.5:1), and something with the cam, other than that, was all the internals replaced with stock mazda parts, or were there other goodies put in there???

just a suggestion graveyard, & take it with a plug nickel, if the bottom end hasn't been beefed up (top end too), and with the high compression flat top pistons(just speculation from me to be @ 12:1 depending on how much was took off the deck, head, & what thickness head gasket) you better be very careful with that nos! it would sux to have a rod thru that squeeky kleen engine.

Either or I like it....a lot. Damn clean. Besides who cares if it is the fastest or not. Dont we do some things just to be different? Hmmm.. YES. very clean I love the look of the shiny black valve cover and topend. Also... he may only get 250hp....which means you will pass him....then he will pass you at a gas station!

I have to disagree on this. They may be similar as far as reliability goes, but I feel the 22R is a superior motor. Having driven a stock Mazda, I thought it was very slow and I always had my foot on the floor. Then driving one with the added weight of a notch, 4-link and nitrogen bottle, I decided it was ungodly slow. And comparing that to a stock Toyota of the same era (1987) it was a huge difference. The Toyota actually felt like it had some power. You bag one, and don't really notice a difference. And for about $1000 you can add a 20% power gain with some basic parts and have an awesome reliable motor thats got plenty of power for a light truck. In 1987 the Mazda had 80 horsepower. In 1987 the 22R put out 125 horsepower.

So where did the dude go anyhow.Lots of chitchat, lots of questions, lots of I want to see this and that and dude disappeared.Did he hit that $10k 2200 with a 75 shot of NOS and it grenaded on him or what.Yoo-hoo,come back and play.Lol.BJ with a $2k mota.
