Hey guys, haven't been on in a while! I was wondering, what's the furthest any of you have ever driven in your B? looking to take a road trip from Mooresville, NC to Pontiac, SC and wondering if I should go for gas mileage and take my 91 b26i 4x4 or go for reliability and take my Avalanche. Its made it from Peachland NC to Mooresville fine, but not sure of the distance. Anybody?

480 miles, from Glendale, CA to Washington, CA via West Los Angeles. (close too 1000miles RT with side trips)

Truck handled it fine. Though AC would have been nice for the long drive home, down the Central Valley.

My B does Los Angeles to Frisco bay, say 800 miles RT, about four or five times a year.

I'm in the same boat with no A/C... i feel like it'd cost more than the truck did to convert to r134 lol

I bought a 1989 b2600i 4x4 on ebay in NYC and drove it to central PA. I dont recall the mileage but if it can be driven 30 mins with no probs I say take it.

Drove my 1990 B2200 from Central Florida to Western NC and back. Approx. 1100 miles. I say go for it.

I recently drove from Statesville, NC to my dad's place in Cherry Grove, SC then to Charleston, SC, back to Cherry Grove, SC then back to Statesville, NC for a total of ~750mi in one weekend. Up till that point, the longest I had driven it was my daily 60mi commute.

I can't imagine your Avalanche get's THAT much worse than your 4x4 B2600i to justify driving it on a long trip with no AC and if you are questioning it's reliability.... Our 02 Avalanche (5.3, 2wd, 3.42 rearend) gets 1mpg better than my B2200 highway, although my B2200 does about 4mpg under normal driving conditions around here.

15 years ago, Phoenix to Los Angeles to go on a cruise. And back, about 425 miles each way.

Nowadays: 140 miles each way to Flagstaff to watch daughter play baseball.

I think the farthest I've driven the 1991 B2600i was from Gainesville, FL to Augusta, GA to R90Baron's house.......picked up an engine of his and drove back home the next day........can't remember the miles, but I got 24-25 mpg the whole way, there and back......and I was loaded pretty good also........er, well, the TRUCK was loaded....not me!

so it sounds to me that minus no a/c it'll be the same mpgs? awesome! lol
