It depends on how heavy your foot is. You have to remember that most of the b series had under 90 hp. lol

I drove my 2.6i from washington state to north carolina over the course of about 5 days, loaded and towing a loaded b2000 half the time... And drive it 120 miles daily for my newspaper route... And it hit 300k sometime last week... Had no problems on the longer trip, and after I moved out here I drove it to atlanta towing an 18ft trailer to pick up a second gen rx7 and haul it back to charlotte... I'm sure your nc to sc trip will be just fine.

figured out that to swap from r12 to r134 all i have to do is change the couplings and the oil in the system....easy as pie

Eddie, I just converted mine last month. It works like a charm. The oil in your system distributed throughout the other components, not just the compressor. The to get all the oil out, you'll want to try and flush the whole system and change the 0-rings out as well. Also, there are some o-rings that fit between the expansion valve and the evaporator - you should probably change those as well.

As for recharging, the general consensus is that you should recharge it with 80-95% of the original R-12 capacity (28 oz.). Without scales, I just gave it 2 12oz cans, giving me 24ozs or about 85%. It seems to work real well.

a year ago I commuted for work in my 93 b2600i (without a/c) for the month of August, from utah to wyoming every weekend and back (340 miles each way), and then a 60 mile daily commute (which I still have) to work every day. On the freeway at 75 I avg 27 mpg, commuting I avg 22-27 (lowest in winter). My truck has 249k on it right now, and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere.

where can I get all of the o-rings? and don't I have to change the couplings on the hoses from screw on to quick connect?

You can get an O-Ring kit at any auto parts store and probably even Wal-Mart. Yes, you'll need the quick disconnects too. They'll just screw on top of the existing fittings.

My father let the truck sit for two years, only moved it twice. He gave it to me. Two weeks later, I went from Louisville, KY to Knoxville, TN and back, both ways thru Lexington, KY. I only replaced the alternator. That's around 300 miles one way. Plus the week we stayed in Knoxville.

repeat thread but anyhow....
a few years back drove from rex, GA. to Greenville, NC and back home. 480 miles one way, averaged 400 miles to the tank and about 5 qts of oil.

Bump glad to know how reliable these engines are.. Looks like the most common problem is smoking easy fix I've put new rings in mines and rod bearings . The only problem I'm having with mines is I lost some bolts like for the power steering,
