Ok like the title says, I'm getting an 89 b22 completely stock. My father is giving it to me. He rebuilt the motor and had it painted its original color. It's completely stock 4cyl and manual tranny. I was wondering if you guys could help me out and give me some MUST DO mods. Thanks guys. Oh yea this is my first mini. I'll add a picture in the morning.

First thing fix the e-brake. Carrying that rock around would get old fast. lol

Welcome to the scene!

A few things that wouldn't hurt would b loose them elephant ear mirrors give it a big gravity change. Wheels and 4x4 stuff never can go wrong with it.

Those tow mirrors in decent shape are in pretty good demand.

In all honesty, I'd paint the wheels black, get the proper chrome hub caps, and mount up some chrome beauty rings.
Then I'd enjoy it like that for a couple hundred thousand miles.

H2omelon, that rock has been in the family for years haha

The mirrors will probably stay for a while since they we just repainted and don't want to fill in the hole in the door after removing it.

I was thinking about painting the wheels black but I'm not really sure what steps to take to do that and what paint would work well for it
Thanks for all the input.

Oh and Im not sure I know what you mean by beauty rings. sorry for the ignorance.

lol

Truck looks good. Please don't paint the wheels black.

No reason to apologize... we ask questions to learn, right?
Do you like this look?

The beauty rings mount to the outside rim of your wheel. I think they make the wheel pop.

Painting your wheels involves scuffing the existing paint with scotchbrite, priming the surface(primer coat), then paint of your choosing. Scuffing the surface is the most critical, and needs to be done to the entire painted surface for proper adhesion. It's tedious work, but pays dividends!

Ok next question, the weber carb install. I want to do it myself of course but was wonder how hard is it to do and clean up the useless crap I don't need?

Not hard at all super simple if you have any mechanical knowledge at all. There are tons of threads here that involve the weber swap. You'll need to make a block off plate for some of the tubes and use lug nuts to cap off the mani to truly clean up the underhood area. Or just buy a pacesetter header.
