plugs and filter didnt really do much.. its better but still no good

Now, it will idle, but its still ruff.. and if i give it gas, as soon as ii let off, it sputters out.. but if i hit the gas before it dies, it will come back up and idle, until i hit the gas and let off again.

maybe a vacume line poped off

check all around ur vacum line on ur intake maifold and shit i bet u its that

the reason i said something in the clutch is cuase if the clutch is a engaded a little it will bog the motor down and not let it idel kind of like letting out on it with out giving enough gas. i would check the compression on all the clyinders to make sure you did not break something inside like a wriste pin these are just ideas that could exsplan the clunk he heard

i got it sorta fixed lol... I swapped out the carb. i had an extra one laying around, so i just swapped it over real quick. I think i might have missed a vacuum line or something because its idling real high at like 2000rpms. Is the idle adjustable on these carbs? i heard they were pre-set and not adjustable.

Probly another thing to note.. All the emissions shit was removed on it.. so it was running sorta rich to begin with.. My dad thinks it flooded out somehow or something.. i dont know.. But as soon as i fired it up with the new carb, it idled fine and didnt sputter when i hit the gas.

yea.. sooo i drove it to work.. came out on my break.. started it up.. idoling at around 1000rpms.. Sweet!! Not really.. it was running like shit.. i noticed a significant power loss on my way to work. it was doggin up hills and shit. moreso than usual

So on my way home im noticing that as soon as i hit like 2,000+rpms in any gear, it sputters.. im thinking maybe its running too lean? i have no idea on this one.. anyone know of any adjustments on the carb i can make? Theres a screw on the back, looks like a solid piece of pipe about the thickness of a pen, with a phillips head on the the end.. is that the adjustment for the idle? or thre AF?

when it idles at 2000 rpms thats ur choke there is an idle adjustment but it sounds liek ur choke is one so let it warm up and after its worm liek 3 mins tap the gas and the idle should come down (also it could be a dirty carb) or choke stuck

maybe ur choke is stuck on or like i said i agian check all around ur intakemainfold and make sure all those nipples have a cap or a line on them and make sure if u have hoses that there not cracked b.c if u leave a vacum nipple open on ur intakemaifold or a vacumline is cracked it will run lean and it will rot out ur cooling system

ya i dont know what the fuck i did but i got it running again lol

this morning it was barely running.. might have been doing 200rpms tops lol.. So i checked the wires.. all were sparking.. ripped the front of the motor off, thinking that maybe it jumped time or something. belt was fine, didnt move at all. so i started it up, and one by one, removed each plug wire.. found that the #3 plug wasnt firing.. so i swithced the the plugs in 2 and 3, because they were brand new plugs i got yesterday.. so i didnt think theyd be bad.. well yea one was bad. so i put a new one in. started it up.. still choppy idle..

Pulled the carb off, put the old one back on.. And noticed the carb was full of gas.. Soemhow it was flooding out the carb.. i dont know if maybe it took water in, when it rained last night, Cus my air cleaner sticks outta the hood a little.

But ya, put hte old carb on. and it started up, but was at like 3 grand.. then i realized the throttle cable was a little too tight.. loosened it up, and now it idles at like 1200rpms, its quiet, and runs smooth..

oh i also cleaned the rotor and points on the cap, And swapped out the coil for one i had layin around.. so ya, still dont know exactly what happend.. im off to work, well see if it still runs like shit tonite. I just took it around the block tho and it was fine.

1200 rpms is high it should run at like 600-800 rpms ?
