Solenoid is supposed to click once when u turn key on.Try 1 1/4 turns out on idle screw.Little adj sometimes makes a world of diff and 1 1/4 turn is the factory spec.BJ

I went out and bought a dwell meter and a vacuum guage. I used them both to tune the carb. I got the dwell meter to jump back and forth between about 40 and 50 degrees. Im not sure if I set it quite right cause it said to make sure the idle compensator is closed. I wasnt sure what the idle compensator was or where it was located so I set it anyways.

The truck runs awesome. Its a night and day difference between when I got the truck and now. I have no complaints at all. I registered it today and got my temp tags for it so I can get my emissions done. I drove it around the neighborhood tonight with only a hood on the front end and no bed. lol... only have head lights and I strapped my tail lights to the spare tire cross member. Basically no bumper, grill, fenders, or signal lights on the front.

I suspect mine problem was the accelerator pump. You can replace it pretty easily without taking the carb off your truck. You just need to seperate the top plate off the main body. You will have to get a rebuild kit to get the pump. I just went ahead and rebuilt the entire thing. It took about 6 hours total from tear down to putting it back together. I was a little worried at first, but it was easy to do. Especially if you follow the diagram.
